Chapter 9

Quit my Job, to become his assistant?" I echoed and he nodded

"Me?" I asked, again and again, he nodded, like it was a normal suggestion and after a while of trying to figure out if he was serious I came to the conclusion that he was serious and he was seriously telling me to basically become homeless... well, I am technically homeless right now but still!

"I politely declined," I say gently throwing the tablet to the foot of the bed I was about to tell them all except for Sarah who was strangely quiet this whole time to leave but what he said next made me freeze mid-talk

"Whatever you're getting paid now I'll triple it," he said and even Sarah couldn't hold in her gasp of surprise 

"Excuse me!" This had to be a joke right?

"Your currently living with your boss am I right, And you are on the verge of being kicked out of your school due to unpaid tuition correct" the way he said it didn't make it seem like he was asking " how about this, the job comes with your paid tuition for this year and three times the salary, all you have to do is pretend that you've been working for Logan for a month now"

After Jeff said that the Doctor came in and said that I was good to go home and rest after he checked my head.  Logan, Jeff, and Brendan all left after Jeff gave me his card saying that I should call by the week and if I didn't then the offer would be off the table

Sarah helped me walk through the halls of the fancy hospital and to the car which was good because I was so deep into my thoughts that I didn't notice that we had entered Sarah's apartment, I also never noticed that I walked to my room without saying my usual goodnight to Sarah

Triple the money that I was getting paid now and my tuition paid could solve all my problems but that would also mean quitting my current job, the job Sarah worked hard to get for me. With a sigh, I threw myself on my thick mattress and closed my eyes falling asleep with the thought of what it would be like to work for Logan Paul

I wish I could say in the morning things felt better than before but it was the total opposite, when morning came and I opened eyes things felt even worse than yesterday, my head felt like a bass drum, thumping and banging over and over again, sweat had soaked my pillow and just to top it off it was that day of the month for me and my stomach hurt like a bitch

Usually, I checked my calendar to be prepared for my period but with all the things that happened, this hadn't even crossed my mind until I ruined my favorite jeans. Slow and sluggish I entered the bathroom avoiding the mirror and turned on the shower

Yesterday's events came crashing back like the shower head above me. I knew that the smart choice would be to take the job and I wanted to.. trust me I really wanted to but-

"Cande?" called Sarah interrupting my thoughts

"In here!" I yelled back shutting off the shower and reaching for my towel

This time also I avoided looking into the mirror because I knew what I would see would not be pretty "Do you have any extra pads Sarah, I forgot to buy some"

She was silent at the other side of the door when I heard shuffling and what sounded like a curse

"Actually I don't, but I can go get some" she replied making me sigh, this day just keeps on getting worse

"That would help thanks" I replied. After a couple of seconds of silence, I didn't hear footsteps leave the door "Sarah you still there?"

Silence again until she cleared her throat "Cande, I know that..." she paused as if she couldn't find the right words

"I know that you haven't taken this once in a lifetime offer because of me and, and I think that however sweet it may be, you not taking that job the minute he offered was a very stupid thing to do" another pause " You and I both know that you aren't stupid Cande Cain, your one of the smartest people I know"

I was silent as she talked knowing that what she was saying was right, it was very stupid of me not to accept the job the minute Jeff offered "What are you saying, Sarah?" I whispered loudly enough for her to hear through the door

"I'm saying that the minute you hear the door close after me you should get your ass out of that bathroom, pick up your phone and call him back" and with that, the footsteps were heard leaving the door and an unnecessary loud bag of the door followed. I took my time drying myself, then took even more time putting lotion on my body and getting dressed and finally I picked up my phone and stared at it

My phone wasn't much, it was an iPhone four, one of the older models, the case that protected it didn't do anything it was made to do hence the cracks on the screen. I was stalling I knew that but then I remembered Sarahs words, with a deep breath I reached for the car sitting on my pillow and started typing the number

The ring was long and after a minute it was finally answered "Jeffery Oscar Levins office how may I help you?"

"Um...hi My names Cande Bell and I'd like to accept the Job offer"
