I walk up the stairs and head towards Russel's room. I stand in front of his door and I hear drums playin'. Must be Clint Eastwood.
I knock on the door with a strong fist. "Russ? Can I talk to you?", I ask. I keep hearin' the drums, so he might not have heard me.
I turn the knob and head inside. I see Russ sittin' behind his drum kit. He sees me and stops playin' the kit. "Oh, hey man! What is it?", he asks as he places his sticks on a drum. "You playin' some Clint Eastwood?", I ask as I lean against the white wall. "Yeah. I just wanted to play some classics of our's, you know?", he asks me. "Yeah", I reply.
"Look, Russ, there somethin' I have to tell you. I would recommend you sit down for this. On your bed, I mean.", I explain. "Okay..?", she says while getting off his drum seat and sits on his bed. "So, what is it that you need to tell me?", he asks. "Well, it has to do with Noodle..", I say. "Go on...", he says with a questioning look on his face.
I turn around, lock the door, and face Russel while leanin' back on the wall. "I want to ask her to marry me", I say straightforward with a serious look on my face. His eyes widen and his mouth drops open. "Damn, D. That felt like a punch on my belly", he said while playing a big hand on his stomach. "I know, but I'm sure I want her to be my wife. I can't hold it anymore for much longer", I explain.
"Are you SURE sure? I mean, havin' a wife is not easy. It's pretty much a full time job! You would have to treat her like a queen, take care of her, and help with the family you guys may have.", Russel explains. "Look, it's goin' to be hard work. Believe me, I know. But if workin' my skinny ass off day and night is the price of marryin' her, then it's worth it.", I explain.
"Well, if you DO love my baby girl that much, and you've never hurt her before in any way, then I guess I'm fine with it.", Russel says with a serious look on his face. "Thanks, man!", I say with a smile on my face.
Russel lets out a big sigh. "Okay, so you want to propose to her, but how? When? Where?", he asks. "Well, I am planning to ask her on her birthday, but I wanted to ask you for ideas on where to propose.", I explain. "Well, you COULD go have dinner with her alone and propose to her...", Russel starts.
Wait, I think I'm gettin' somethin'! "Wait, what if I sing to her at a fancy restaurant and then propose to her?", I ask. "Not a bad idea. What song will you sing to her?", he asks. "I was thinkin' of El Mañana", I explain.
"Why that song? Doesn't Noodle hate it, since it was used on the video when we lost her for four goddamned years?", he asks me with a raised eyebrow. "Well, for one, it IS a sad, emotional song. Second, it's the same song that always reminded me when we lost her, so I'm singin' it to give a powerful message. Last of all, Damon made an acoustic version, so I can sing it to Noodle at the restaurant.", I explain.
"That's a good idea! You can tell the orchestra to play the song while you sing to her, but how will they know what to play?", Russ asks. "I could just ask Damon for some sheet music to give to them", I explain. "That's true.", he replies. "I was also thinkin' of renting a limo for the both of us, and we could wear some fancy masks, since it will be Halloween.", I explain.
"Well, I still need to know one more thing: what ring will you buy her?", he asks. "Well, I already ordered a custom diamond Yin Yang ring.", I explain. "Is that the one with the black and white swirl?", he asks. "Yeah. The ring arrives in a week.", I reply
"Well, I guess we have a plan!", he says with bright eyes. "Yep, I guess we do! Thank for the help Russ.", I say. "Don't mention it", he replies.
I turn around, unlock the door, and walk out the room. It's going to be a busy afternoon!
