Kat would visit Noah every month, to catch up. Meanwhile, Noah had got herself into more trouble and her sentence was extended for another three years. It was obvious to Kat that Noah was not coming out anytime soon. The first time Kat went to visit Noah, she had a new look in her eyes that Kat could not recognise. It was a rough defence mechanism to survive in prison. It was cold and blank. Guarded. But, as soon as their eyes met, Noah seemed to have dropped the act, and the same innocence and friendliness from the moment they first met had overcome her. She melted into tears. Kat pushed her palm against the glass separating them and from the other side Noah placed hers. Palm open, a small smile threatened to tug at her frown. Kat could feel the warmth of Noah's hand seeping through the glass, reminding her of the friendship Noah had granted her all those years ago.
Noah's POV
I choked on my sobs letting them bubble within me. If only Kat knew what I'd been through here. When she left, she took my innocence with her. I was lost. I snapped at everyone and got into a fight with the prison guard. That's what got me another three years in this place. After that stunt they didn't give me a cell mate. Left me alone. I went crazy on my own. No one to tell you it's all gonna be okay and that I'll get through it. I stopped caring.
When Kat first visited me, I didn't want to see her. I told the guard I wanted to be left alone, but Kat insisted I go see her, so I did. I was terrified that she would be disappointed in me. Seeing me like this. Over the long period I've been here I learnt that I had to constantly be on guard. It wasn't...no, it isn't like that with Kat. She brings out the best in me. She brings me hope. And that, well, that's all I needed.
A/N: So, how did you like the twist in this chapter? I went from third person to Noah's POV. Tell me what you think in the comments my book worms! Vote and comment please x
