Y/N sat on the couch with her boyfriend, her feet in his lap as they watched some Christmas movie on tv they were only half paying attention to. It was getting closer to Christmas, Y/N's family would be coming into town soon and while she often loved her family she didn't often like them. This was something she never brought up to Isaac knowing the troubles with his family. In fact they rarely talked about family at all. It was a topic that when brought up was soon squashed and was very rarely brought up to begin with but Y/N was finding herself curious about Isaac, about his family, and about how he felt about family.

She watched him silently as he stared at the television screen. She admired so much about him, he was a beautiful person and it was hard to imagine anyone wanting to hurt him or the torment he went through with his father. How the loss of his mother hurt him, even the death of his brother. These were things they didn't talk about, they had been together for years but she didn't want to intrude on things that hurt him. Though she felt as if she had to now.

"When was the last time your family was all together?"

"Ugh, the Christmas before my brother died."

"So Christmas time is pretty hard for you now I bet."

"It can be. It reminds me that I don't have a family anymore; but it also reminds me that I did have a family and I'm capable of having another. One I can choose."

"Who is in your family now?"

"You, obviously, my pack, my work friends, our friends from college, your family, our future children. My family is amazing, the best thing I could have ever wished for."

"I love you Isaac, and I promise that we will always be your family."

Isaac looked taken aback. "Wait, we?"

A shy smile spread across Y/N's face. "Yeah, we. You know that sound you've been hearing? The one that I convinced you was all in your head?"

"Yes?"

"It's real, it's our baby's heartbeat."She said, embarrassed by her actions.

Isaac was in shock. "You're joking."

"I'm not. I wanted to surprise you on Christmas but I can't wait anymore. Open up the one that says 'Daddy' on it."

"I thought that was a kinky thing."

"That's what I was hoping would throw you off, now open it."

Isaac smiled and tore at the paper to reveal a box. Inside, the box was filled with baby items. There was a blanket, a bib, pacifier, onesie and a sonogram for her first appointment. Isaac picked up the sonogram and stared at in in awe of the small speck. A speck that made his eyes tear up. A speck that was part him and part the love of his life. A speck that would mean more to him than any other speck in the universe.

"That's my baby." Isaac said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Y/N's hand found it's way to his back, rubbing it in a soothing motion. "That's our baby. That's our family. That's your family"

An excited grin stretched across his face. "My family."
