They had always been travelers. They met the summer before her junior year in college, both traveling Europe. They spent that summer together and when fall came couldn't bare to be torn apart. So when she left for the states he hoped on the plane right beside her and he hasn't left her since.
Most of their relationship was spent traveling. Taking trips anywhere they could imagine, beautiful beaches to small state towns, bustling cities to vast countrysides. Traveling had been their connection from the beginning and it wasn't something they ever had the intention of giving up even after they had settled down with a home in Isaac's hometown of Beacon Hills. But life had other plans for them.
Twelve weeks after they got back from their honeymoon, two weeks in the irish countryside where the pair had first whispered I love you's back in early august so many years ago, eight positive pregnancy test told them that that would be their last trip alone for a long time.
She was right. Ten years of marriage and four kids later traveling was a bit different. Bustling cities had been traded for weekend trips to Grandma's house, beautiful beach vacations turned into amusement parks with water slides. Traveling required months of planning and working around school and work schedules and with their youngest being only two with a temper that changed depending on how the wind blew there was never a relaxing trip anywhere and even the thought of traveling caused both Isaac and his wife to groan. But not this trip. This trip was going to be special. This trip was going to be just for them and Isaac was intent on keeping it a surprise until the very last moment.
The day of their anniversary came around the same way it did every year, full of love and children. Y/N expected it to go the same way every other day of their lives went, rough and hectic, never a quiet moment to speak of. It was a saturday which meant being woken up by Isaac kissing her neck only to be interrupted by at least one set of feet puttering down the hall and bursting into the room to demand breakfast. Soccer matches followed breakfast for the oldest two, followed by lunch then, then swimming lessons where the baby would most likely throw a fit, a trip to the grocery store where more than likely at least two of the children would end up crying at some point, then they would come home and send the kids to their room as the couple spent the only few minutes they would have alone all day cooking dinner. That was how she expected the day to go, but the neck kisses never came, and the sound of small feet rushing down the hallway never came, and it was nearly eleven when she finally woke up to Isaac pushing the hair from her face and leaving kisses on her forehead. "Wake up my love, I have breakfast." Isaac whispered in her ear and kissed her cheek causing her to stir and sit up, looking around the room.
"Where are the kids?" She asked.
"At soccer, Scott and Kira took them." He explained.
"Wow that was nice of them." She said, in shock than anyone would willingly take all the kids at once.
"Yes it was, now sit up I've brought you breakfast in bed but you have to be quick about eating we still need to pack before we catch our plane." Isaac said casually before jumping off of the bed and grabbing their suitcases from the closet.
"A plane? To where?" She asked, confused by his statement as she took a bite of the pancakes sitting on the plate.
"Our second honeymoon." He explained his voice still casual as if she should know all of this already.
Y/N's eyes grew wide at the notion of a second honeymoon with four children on their tails. "Isaac, we have kids now. We can't exactly take a second honeymoon. I get the gesture but it's not very romantic with four kids needing our constant attention."
"That's why we aren't taking them." He explained, packing folded clothes into this suitcase.
"Not taking them? What are we going to do leave them here to fend for themselves? The oldest is only nine!" She exclaimed in mild fear.
"Scott and Kira offered to watch them while we spend a few nights away." Isaac chuckled at the look on her face, as if he would leave his children home alone.
Y/N sighed in relief. "That's amazing, where are we going?" She asked suddenly excited by the thought.
"Well when we first got married we talked about places we wanted to go and you mentioned wanting to go to this one place now that we were married because for some reason you always felt it was more of a married life destination and I promised you we would go." He started.
"Then we didn't." She interrupted with a small smile on her face.
Isaac nodded. "Then we didn't, because apparently I can't stop getting you pregnant. Do you remember where you said you wanted to go?" Y/N nodded then opened the box Isaac had handed to her. She looked down and saw 'Nantucket' written on the plane ticket and a smile grew on her face at the thought. "And you don't have to worry about anything, I have planned everything. We have a room booked, I have activities planned, I have made dinner reservations. The only thing you have to do is have a good time."
"Oh Isaac lahey." Y/N jumped from the bed and raced across the room flinging her arms around Isaac's neck and pulling him in for a deep kiss.
Isaac pulled away with a smile on his face to think of how happy he had made his wife. "Hey hey hey no time for that we need to pack!"
Y/N giggled and took her suitcase from the floor, placed it on the bed and began to pack, she could feel Isaac's eyes on her as she put in items of clothing and lingerie he had never seen before. He smirked and shook his head, moving across the room to stand behind her, wrapping his arms around her body, leaving kisses on the back of her neck and shoulders.
"This is going to be an amazing trip." He assured.
Y/N moved to face him. "Yes it is, and I swear to god, if you get me pregnant on this trip I'm having you neutered."
"If I get you pregnant on this trip, I'm selling myself to the zoo." Isaac joked but Y/N just laughed and shook her head. She leaned up to kiss the tip of his nose then quickly finished packing for her surprise second honeymoon with the love of her life.
