Taeyong felt like he couldn't breathe. That was because he wasn't, still staring at the girl in front of him. Was she serious? She looked serious. She was also waiting for a response.
He found enough will to make a coherent sentence. "Are you being serious?"
Jennie looked at him with confusion. "Yes?" She scooted closer. "Why wouldn't I be?" A hint of a smile lingered on her lips.
Taeyong's eyes left hers for a minute, recollecting his train of thought. "I- you-..." he cut himself off. He endlessly searched for an answer in his brain but couldn't.
"I asked you that, because, well, I like you." She finally smiled. She looked so innocent.
Taeyong folded his hands, trying to form words but found nothng. It felt like he was going to pass out at any second. Her eyes lowered, in a flirty kind of way. Or that's what Taeyong perceived it to be.
"Why do you l-like me?" He finally said, before the air got filled with too much silence.
Jennie paused for a moment before answering. "Well, you've always been cute. But... I don't know if you remember, from like a month ago or so, I ran out into the road one night and you stopped. And you ran out into the cold to see what was wrong. Then another car came and wouldnt stop speeding, and then you took us out of the road. I was hiding my face the whole time I was out there. Then the car stopped ahead, and you ran out towards the guy, angry. I ran away, after that. I didn't get to thank you. So thank you..."
To his surprise, after she explained it all, she hugged him tightly, by woving her hands around his neck, burying her face in the crook of the juncture of his neck and shoulder.
She always thought I was cute? He also did remember that night. He was wondering who and why that girl ran out in the middle of a snow night into a road. He's glad she's okay now. He felt that his phone vibrated in his pocket, knowing instantly it was Johnny.
Taeyong felt awkward by only halfly hugging her, and for not saying anything for a while. "You're welcome. I'm just glad that girl is safe."
Jennie began moving to respond, briefly brushing her lips on his skin. Taeyong's legs jumped at that, before Jennie backed away in alarm. She had no idea what just happened. Taeyong felt his whole face heat up.
"What's wrong?" She asked, in genuine concern. Her little accident had massive affects on Taeyong. She was completely clueless.
"Oh it was nothing." He played it off, laughing.
Before any other part of Taeyong got excited, Jennie brushed it off. "So, do we have a deal?"
Taeyong blinked. "Oh, sure. If you finish before you leave... I'll take you out on a date."
Jennie's face lit up before moving to work on her project. Taeyong found this the right time to check what Johnny had texted him.
Johnny
DUDE, Nayeon texted me back and said she likes YOU. Taeyong to the freaking Lee! I told you.
Taeyong rolled his eyes, typing in answer.
Uh, yeah. She told me about 2 minutes ago.
Johnny texted back almost instantly.
Johnny
What? Tell me everything.
Taeyong glanced at Jennie working diligently on her project before responding.
Firstly, she asked me out. She had told me that she had always found me cute. Then she told me the time where we were on the road at night together. But I didn't know it was her.
