School finally let out for Winter Break. Students left the school on the last day in glee, ready to enjoy their free time.
Taeyong and Johnny spent their first few hours of winter break playing video games in Taeyong's basement.
Mrs. Lee came down the stairs, apron on, and her hair up in a bun. She placed her hands on her hips. "Boys,"
They looked up, waiting.
"Why don't you two help me make cookies, instead of frying your brains playing too much videogames?"
"We've only been playing games for an hour." Taeyong groaned.
"Hey, I don't think the girls would appreciate the two of you playing too much games."
"Girls?" Johnny sat up in the bean chair, confused.
"I invited Jennie, and her friend, Nayeon, over for cookies and setting up decorations."
The boys shared a look.
"So, you two better come upstairs before they come over." The older woman walked back upstairs.
The boys were helping gather the ingredients needed for the festive cookies when the doorbell rang.
In trailed Nayeon and Jennie, greeted warmly by Taeyong's mom. "I have hot chocolate prepared for you two!"
The two headed into the kitchen, who were greeted by the two teenage boys. Taeyong had still felt traces of awkwardness on his part after his date with Jennie. Even though Jennie seemed fine after he had told her about his feelings. She seemed like she was being serious about letting him go once he found someone else.
Taeyong doubted he would find anyone else. Jennie has brought him on this journey of confusing and new feelings, without her even knowing. He was still learning.
Another person came through the door, much to his surprise. It was his father, who hasn't been around much this winter. They both had been busy with their own things.
"Honey!" His Mom said out of surprise, coming over to him. She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Hello, sweetie. I see you're baking again."
She nodded, and turned back to the kids.
"And who are these two young ladies?" Mr. Lee asked, in surprise.
"Johnny and Taeyong's classmates."
"Ah, I see. Nice to meet you both." He bowed.
They bowed back, sharing a glance at each other.
"We're going to decorate the house after the cookies are in the oven. Want to help?" Mrs. Lee asked, bringing her husband towards the kitchen.
"Sure, of course." He smiled. "I'm going to put away my things and I'll be right back." He kissed his wife on the cheek before walking upstairs.
"You look a lot like your dad." Nayeon commented, smiling. Jennie nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I get that a lot. I'm like a younger version of him basically." Taeyong laughed.
"Hey, remember when you told me your mom wanted your dad to meet Jennie? It's happening now." Johnny whispered into Taeyong's ear. Taeyong had forgotten all about that day.
Mr. Lee came back from his bedroom, all dressed down and casual. "Alright, so what can I do to help with the cookies?"
"You can use the cookie cutters." Jennie handed him some of the few she brought from her house, before turning her attention back to the batter.
