After hugging for a bit, Mal smiled.
"Wanna invite the boys over? We could have a 'party'!"
Evie nodded and grinned.
"That sounds like fun!" she exclaimed.
"Alrighty!"
Mal reached for her phone and created a group chat with Jay and Carlos.
-----------------------------------------------------------
(Itallics is Mal's texts, bold is Carlos', and normal is Jay's)
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Hey guys! Me and Evie were wondering if you wanted to come over and hang out."..."
"Yes, Carlos. There will be popcorn."
"I'll be there!"
"Me too. So long as we can play Truth or Dare."
"Awesome! And don't be crazy, Jay, of course we're playing Truth or Dare."
"See ya in 10👍"
"Yup. See ya! 👋"
"See ya, you dorks. 😂"
-----------------------------------------------------------
"They're coming in 10." Mal informed Evie, hopping off her bed."The usual?"
"Yep. I'll make the popcorn, you think of Truth or Dare truths and dares."
Both girls rolled their eyes and laughed a bit. Then, they got to work!
As Mal was pouring the butter over the popcorn, she looked over at Evie. She was looking cute as can be, even when frustrated in Mal's opinion.
"You okay, E?"
Evie looked over, nodded, and slightly smiled.
"Yeah, I just ran out of ideas."
Mal put the butter down on the counter and walked over to Evie, who was wearing a royal blue pajama onesie.
"Let me see! Also, I love your PJs."
Evie handed Mal the list and smiled.
"Here you are, and thanks!"
Mal blushed a bit and looked over the list. She was a bit annoyed with the dares. Evie wasn't the biggest daredevil, and her dares weren't the best.
"I like the truths," Mal noted, looking up from the list, "But the dares are weak."
Evie sighed heavily and chuckled.
"I know. I'm like a broken mirror when it comes to dares: boring and unuseful!"
Mal grinned and put an arm around Evie.
"Don't say that. You just need to have practice. You've gotten Auradon Softie Syndrome, which made your Isle toughness melt away like the butter on the popcorn. Just think back about the really mean pranks we used to pull. Then turn them in to something that wouldn't get us kicked out!"
Evie laughed at her little joke and nodded. She erased the side of the paper that contained the dares.
"I got this!"
After 5 minutes of thinking, Evie came up with a good amount of dares and Mal finished the popcorn.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
Mal smiled and walked to the door, ready to see Jay and Carlos.
"I'll get it."
Mal opened the door to find Carlos, Jay, and Dude.
"You brought Dude, too?! Aww. Come on in."
Mal waved in the boys and the small dog behind them.
"Evie! Bring the ToD paper."
Evie walked over in her red slippers with the Truth or Dare paper under one arm and the popcorn bowl balanced on her head. She sat down, and put both the things she was carrying in the middle of the circle.
Jay smiled.
"If we're starting with Truth or Dare, I'll go first!"
Jay looked around the circle.
"Carlos, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
Carlos had a wide grin.
"Don't do it, man!" Dude said.
Mal laughed.
"Dude can still talk?!"
Carlos looked annoyed and nodded.
"Yep. And I am going to do dare, Dude."
Dude shook his fur.
"Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you!"
Mal and Evie giggled a bit.
"Jay, what's the dare?" Carlos demanded, a bit impatient.
"Okay, okay! I dare you to..."
Jay glanced at the list of dares.
"Put a frog in Chad's bed!"
Mal, Evie, and Jay were in a fit le laughter.
"Eww!" Evie exclaimed.
"This is going to be epic!" Jay snickered.
"What a show this will be." Mal joked.
Carlos sighed and looked a bit disgusted.
"Fine. Someone get me a frog."
Mal left the room and sneaked out to the pond. She got a frog and carried it to the dorm.
"Here you are, De Vil. Go get 'em!" Mal teased.
(30 minutes pass)
After playing the old "shaving cream and a feather" trick on Audrey, confessing secrets, and laughing like crazy, it was Carlos' turn to ask.
"Mal, truth or dare?"
Mal looked like she was thinking hard.
"Gimme a truth."
Carlos looked stumped, then finally got one.
"Okay, Mal. Who's your crush?"
Mal gasped. She had dreaded those three words ever since developing feelings for Evie.
"Well..."
Mal knew she had to answer truthfully, so she took a deep breath.
"It's-it's..."
Mal felt a single tear running down her cheek.
Carlos patted Mal's back comfortingly.
"Don't be embarrassed. We won't judge."
Mal nodded and wiped her tears.
"I know. And that's what makes you guys awesome. This is just really hard..."
Evie hugged Mal.
"You'll be fine. Just tell us."
Mal smiled.
"Evie." she mumbled.
Jay looked confused and laughed.
"I don't know anyone named Ehhh. Now speak up!"
The four chuckled for a bit before looking back at Mal.
"It's...umm...Evie."
At saying this, Evie gasped and blushed, smiling big. Jay nudged Carlos and Carlos smiled.
Mal ran out of the room, embarrassed and crying.
"Mal! Come back!" Evie said, running after her.
The boys followed behind Evie, ready to reassure her that she had nothing to be ashamed of.
But where did she go?
