Liz’s POV

A knock on my room’s door suddenly brought me back to reality. I looked around me and saw that I am in my room, lying down on my bed. I tried closing my eyes once more just to return to my 1Derful dream but sadly, I wasn’t able to. Too bad. It was way, way better than reality.

Another knock on the door was heard. This time, it was louder. I hurried to open it and saw my other sister, Tania, carrying huge bags that seem to contain her clothes.

“Lizzie! Help me!” She screamed. I hastily got two bags from her hand and carried them to her bed. At the end of each month, when she goes home from boarding school, she just barges inside my room and shows up like a mushroom. We share a room, anyway, and I have to live with that, but of course, her part of the room is larger than mine.

She has more stuff than I do. Her closet is bursting with clothes of different styles and colors. Having a cool sister is quite a drag, especially when people start to compare you to her. As for me, I’ve been living behind her shadow for as long as I can remember.

I stared at her intently as she open her bags. As usual, they contained clothes, make-up and lots of other things. We aren’t rich, to be honest, but my sister has her own ways of getting money. She works part-time and budgets her allowance really well.

She caught me staring at her and her things. She can’t blame me. I don’t have those things. I’m not beautiful like her. She smiled at me and continued folding her clothes neatly and put them inside one of her many cabinets. I wondered why.

My sister always does her own things and usually ignores my existence. She loves bossing around, though, and making medo errands. Every time she’s at home, it has always been ‘Lizzie do this’ and ‘Lizzie do that’. She loves calling me names in public, humiliating me. But since I love my sister, I do everything just to please her. And prevent her from telling mom or dad that I’m being an unpleasant sister to her.

“Bernice Hale again, huh?” She said as she went in front of her dresser and combed her hair. I frowned. How did she know about it?“I have my ways, little sister.”

“Well, yeah, as usual.” I said.

“Actually, the brat told me herself as soon as I got down the bus. She was there with her friends, I think. The kid told me, ‘Hey, Tania. Elizabeth’s adopted, right? She doesn’t look like any of you.’”

“And you said yes.” I said, sarcastically, but she shook her head.

She went inside her closet and began pulling clothes from the rack. She also searched through her shoes, makeup and accessories. Then, she put everything she took out on my bed. At first, I thought that she needed to be reminded of her space’s boundary but with the look on her face, I realized that she was giving away a few of her things to me.

“Next time you go out, wear something nice and show that girl how much more awesome you are than her.” She said.

Rae’s POV

I saw Victoria inspecting through my things as soon as I woke up. I jolted up in an instant and questioned her why she is inside my room, but instead of answering my question, she hugged me. Her long wavy golden hair smelt like candy. She’s immune to zits and has clear fair skin that is always silky smooth. Victoria has always been perfect and enviable.

After a short while, she broke off the hug and stared right into my eyes. As usual, I looked at her light blue irises which reminded me of Niall Horan, and as always, I envied them again.I suddenly remembered about my attempt of running away from home. I looked around and saw my bags, still leaning on one side of my dresser.
