Smith Verma. He was the nerd of our college. Although he was short, he certainly didn't lack brains. He had been the topper since childhood. All he could think of was books. He had no world outside textbooks and according to his point of view, everyone around him were duffers and therefore dumb.

"Smith! Is it really you?" I blinked my eyes for confirmation of his existence.

"I always thought you were the stupidest girl in class. Now, I am sure of it," Smith said.

At his words, my mouth fell open. Then, I looked at Lola and gave her an angry look.

"What?" Lola asked, confused.

"Did you find him for our drummer?" I pointed at Smith.

"Yeah! Why?" She asked innocently.

"Agrhh! Guys! BD," Rocky said and we all (not Smith, of course) went to a corner and made a circle.

BD meant Band Discussion. Whenever we had to consult about anything, we used the abbreviation BD.

"Are you out of your mind, Lola?"John asked.

"Smith isn't perfect for our band member at all. Why did you bring him here?" Rocky said.

"Does he even know how to play drums?" I asked.

We all were whispering because we didn't want Smith to hear our BD.

Of all of our questions, Lola found interest in John's question only.

"No John, I am not out of my mind," Lola said, ignoring the rest of us.

Rocky said, "Hallo, Miss Lola. What about our questions?"

"Okay, okay, let me explain," Lola said hesitantly. "Umm... actually.... I requested him to be our drummer. Don't worry, he learned it when he was little."

Rocky’s eyebrows rose. "Strange! You requested him and he consented. I mean, he, Smith Verma, a person who never listens to anyone, just accepted your proposal without asking any questions!  Isn't it strange?"

"Actually, no," I said. "I noticed that he is a little obsessed with Lola."

"What! No!" Lola objected.

"Oh please, Lola! You know it's true."

"But I can't believe this short-stack," John said.

"I can hear you guys," Smith said, tapping his feet on ground.

We ignored him and lowered our voices more.

"Not only he is short, he is much too arrogant to handle. Did you notice how much he makes fun of my grades! I mean, my grades are good enough,'' I said.

I saw that my three friends looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"Okay they aren’t good, but they’re not that bad either," I said.

At that, their eyebrows rose more. So, I gave up and sighed.

"Okay, okay, my grades are bad, but hey! You guys are my friends. You should support me in whatever I say," I said, a little angry.

They chuckled a little, then John said, "Guys, since we have no other choice, let's give him a chance."

I sighed and said, "Yeah, you are right. Let's see what will happen."

Then we went to Smith.

"Your stupid discussion is over, fools?" Smith asked and rolled his eyes as if how much irritating we were.

"Hello mister! We are not..."

"Jeni, control control..."

I was about to shout at him, but Rocky cut me off.
