I woke up with my face pressed into Dirks chest. He slightly smelt like a car garage. It wasn't bad, just new. My body was shaken lightly. "Yo, dude, you awake now?" Dirk must have been trying to wake me up.
"Yeah, I'm awake. What time is it?" I groaned when he removed himself from the bed to get his phone that was still on his desk.
"Almost 1." He tossed his phone onto his bed then proceeded to stare at the floor in front of the door.
"What?" I tried to see what he was looking at, but he walked over to the door and blocked my view.
"Was this here yesterday?" He knelled down and picked something up, before turning towards me. He was holding a piece of paper.
"I don't think so. Does it say anythin' on it?" Sitting up, I rolled my shoulders and stretched my arms above my head.
"Yeah." He paused to read it. "It says, 'I'll be back in about an hour to check on you two ass hats to make sure you're awake. Went to Karkat's dorm'." Once he finished reading it out loud, he looked at me confused. "Who's Karkat?"
Getting up, I walked over to him to see who wrote the note. It was Aria. "Huh, I didn't think her and Kat were still a thing." I could only assume that she stopped by a little after 12. If she had stopped by sooner, she would have woken us up in the worst way possible. We didn't have classes till next week, but we wanted to introduce Dirk to a few people.
I started for the bathroom. Him following. "A thing? Who's Karkat?" He was practically on my heels, like he was some ally dog that I threw fresh meat to and he wanted more.
"Do you know about Troll romance?" I asked without turning to face him until I was at our bathroom door.
"I know about Matesprites and Moirails." He took a step back, finally realizing how close he actually was to me.
"But you don't know about the Black-Rom relationships?" He shook his head no. I scratched my forehead then ran my hand threw my hair, trying to figure out how explain it to him the easy way. "Well, basically, Aria and Karkat have hate sex so Karkat doesn't try to kill Aria again."
"Oh, wait, again? You mean he's tried?" The look of worry on his face was way more noticeable without his shades.
"It's a long story, and I need to shower before she comes back. Just ask her about it. I'm sure she'll just be tickled pink to tell you." I absconded into the bathroom, needing to get out of that conversation as fast as possible. I hated talking about or hearing about her and Karkat. But I'd never share that with anyone but Rose.
As I got out of the shower, there was a harsh knock on the bathroom door. I wrapped a towel around my waist before responding to the noise. "Yo?" Just as the word left my mouth, the door flung open then slammed shut. Shit, she was mad.
"The fuck did you tell him about Karkat?!" She had some how managed to both scream and whisper these words at me.
"I figured you wanted him to know, since you mentioned Kar in the note." My back hit the bathroom wall within seconds. I gripped the towel around my waist tightly. I haven't strifed with her since 8th grade, she's gotten a lot stronger. This is also not ideal strifing conditions.
"You figured? You, fuckin, figured?" She had pinned me against the wall. My heart was racing without my consent and the amount of closeness that was between us was not good with the amount of naked I was. In any other moment this would be amazing. Wait, no, get your head out the fucking gutter Dave. Shit she's still talking. "You're not even listening to me, are you?" She took a step away from me, slightly shaking her head. "You always fucking do that. You zone out every time I try and have an actual meaningful conversation with you."
