Thank You

As I stomped out my cigarette I felt upset eyes upon me. Glancing around I found who I was looking for. Aria, who had just left the Troll Dorms, and was staring at me. How she knew it was me from across the courtyard is beyond me. As she walked over to me, I saw that she was indeed upset.

"I thought you stopped, fuckin' smokin'!" Aria practically yelled at me crossing her arms over her chest.

"I did stop. Did being the operative word." I gave her a smug look that she didn't take well too.

"If Bro finds out, no matter how mad I am at him currently, I'm not going to stop him from whatever the fuck he'll do when he finds out. Cus' he'll fuckin' do somethin'." I didn't expect her to stop him, though I don't expect him to ever find out.

I'll take this chance to change the subject to her. "Why were you leaving the Troll Dorms?"

"Oh. I just left my phone in Kar's room and needed to... Wait a minute. Fuck you. Don't change the subject you piece of shit. Smoking, stop it." She looked more concerned then mad now.

"I know, I know. Quitting is like, the hardest thing to do though." I sighed deeply slouching, giving her a tired look.

"Yes, quitting it hard. I get it, I really do. Life is easy though and you not quitting is makin' your life quite hard." She gave me a sympathetic look, and she was right.

I didn't reply to her after that. We started walking towards the cafe we were meeting Dave and his brother at. She eventually asked for my cigarettes, before we got there. I was aloud to have one and play it off as me going off to call my dad. It would work, as long as Dave doesn't ask about what I talked to him about.

Once we reached the cafe, I realized how nervous about seeing Dave again after being gone all summer. Living back in Washington, I ended up not even talking to him. We broke up a week before the move. I wondered if he was nervous too.

The cafe came into view and I saw Dave leaning against the outside wall. My heart started to beat faster then normal. Shoving my hands into my front pockets I took a deep breath.

"Good luck." Aria whispered to me, without looking up at me. She knew I was freaking out, and that just made me freak out that much more.

-Arias POV-

As we approached the cafe, I saw that Dave was waiting outside for us, though Dirk wasn't with him. I sighed internally and whispered a good luck over to John, who by now was trying to hide the fact that-seeing his ex-boyfriend for the first time since the break up-was making it hard for him to breath. My good luck didn't sit as well with him as I wish it did. I couldn't stay and help him hold a conversation with Dave though. I still needed to get the Honey Herb tea I ordered earlier.

I walked up to Dave before going into the cafe, he seemed pissed. "Yo, why are you waitin' out here and why isn't Dirk with ya?"

He gave me this look that, wasn't quite aggressive but not completely docile. Someone had made him rather uncomfortable after I left, and I had a feeling I knew who it was before he told me. "Karkat showed up. I didn't wanna risk him fuckin' comin' over to talk to me so Dirk and I came out here. Dirk just went back in to take a piss."

"I gotta go in and grab my tea. So you and Egbert play nice while I'm gone." Dave peeked behind me and shot a smirk at John.

"Hey Johnny Boy, long time no see or even talk rather. What you move back to Washington and forget your best-bro exists?" He raised an eyebrow at him.

Johns eyes went wide and he started biting his bottom lip. "Oh, um, no I just, you know, thought that since we broke up, I don't know." He couldn't get his words to come out and form actual sentences.

Dave just started chuckling. "Yo, it's fuckin' cool bro. I was just shittin' with cha. I needed the space just as much as you did." He walked over to him and enveloped him in a hug, in which John returned with a slight smile resting on his lips.

"Alright you two, ragin homosexuals, I'ma go get my tea and the young man of which we are here to hang out with." I heard both of them chuckle and then start up on a conversation as I walked into the cafe.

As I walk in, Dirk is on his way to the door but stops when he sees me. "Yo, get your phone?" He asked me, falling in beside me.

"Yeah, I got it. Had to look for it with Kar's roommate but whatever." I was looking around the room to see where Karkat was. He was all the way in the back. Good, I didn't want him to see me.

Once I reached the counter Eridan came over and handed me my tea, that some how was still hot. I took a sip and smiled, exactly what I needed. "Good stuff?" Eridan asked, smirking.

"Fuck yes. How is it still hot though?" I took another sip, awaiting his answer.

"I saw that you left so I w-waited to make it till you came back, but then Strider left so I made it then know-win' that you'd come in to get it." He gave me this look of almost embarrassment and it made me giggle.

I motioned for Eridan to lean in closer to me, like I was going to tell him a juicy secret. Once his face was closer to mine I pressed my forehead against his causing my sunglasses to clink with his eyeglasses. "Thank you, Eri. I really needed this tea today. You're to good."

"It, uh, w-w-was no problem, Ar." His cheeks turned a soft shade of Violet and smiled.

I pulled away and turned to Dirk. "This is Eridan by the way, Dirk."

Dirk just waved and practically whispered a 'yo' at him. Eridan just waved back then went back to work before he got yelled at and Dirk and I left.

-later that day-

"What do you mean I cheated!? Dave how the fuck could I have cheated at Smash Bros??" John was trying to understand Daves accusations, but was having a hard time.

After we showed Dirk the city and had lunch we came back to my dorm room and decided on playing Super Smash Bros and Dave was being a sore looser. Though John was playing as a cheap character.

"John, you're playin' as the fuckin' Villager. That's so cheap." Dave had gotten up and gone into my mini-fridge to get another Coke.

"He's the only character that I'm good at playing Dave, don't get butthurt over it." John stated argumentatively. "And besides, I asked you if it was okay if I used him and you said yes. So fuck you."

Dave shot him a look of disapproval over his shades, before shutting the mini-fridge. "I can not believe you just used the phrase 'butthurt'. That dyed in 2012 John, get with the times."

"Well sorry Sir Lord of Memes, didn't meme to embarrass you with my stale ass." John did a small bow with a shit eating grin on his face.

"Wow, just wow. That was bad even for you." I said as Dave just stood there staring at him in disbelief.

"That was a shitty pun bro, real low." Dirk added from beside me on the couch. Though he had been covering his mouth laughing just a second ago.

"Dishonor to your family, Egbert, your whole family." Dave said while walking back over to his seat.

"Even Casey?" John asked, looking worried.

"Even Casey."

"Damn, she's gonna hate me." John took his seat, on the floor next to Dave, once again.

Looking over at Dirk, I saw that he was confused. "Casey is his Salamander. She's so cute." Dirk nodded in response and went back to his resting face.

We ended up playing with different characters after Daves outburst. We played till curfew made the boys go back to their dorms. Just as I was about to go to bed though, I got a text from John that simply read 'Thank you'.
