There was one thing Draco still didn't understand. He didn't despise the idea of kissing a Mudblood; he actually liked it. But why would Hermione kiss him? Draco was sure he had seen her with Weasley, in the Room of Requirement last year. Had they broken up?

He decided quickly: he had to act like always. Like a pure-blood. He couldn't let her know that he actually liked the kiss and felt attracted to her; it would only complicate her situation. Kissing the enemy of your boyfriend? Not something you'd like to have to deal with.

'I...'

Was she going to apologize? For what? Or maybe she was going to blame him for the kiss. "If you hadn't been so attractive, I wouldn't have kissed you!" Maybe.

However, Hermione seemed actually hurt, sad, disappointed, maybe, by her own self. Her own desire to make a stranger happy at midnight.

'I swear it, Granger, if I knew it was you...'

'Don't- Just don't. Don't say anything and... And never mention something happened between us.'

She passed by him, but Draco didn't want to give up. He, somehow, felt like they should talk about that. No matter how hard or uncomfortable would it be. He needed something to be clear: why did that happen, actually?

'Hermione, wait!'

She turned around and Draco could see it: the sadness was drowning her eyes. He choked with words even before he could open the mouth.

'Please.'

He shut up.
