I was walking down the corridor with Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos walking beside me. Since the cotillion was coming up all of the girls that we walked by started to flirtatiously say 'hi' as Jay pasted them, wanting to be his date to the cotillion. "Why do you torture them? Just pick one to go to the cotillion with?" Carlos asks Jay as he watches all the girls flirt with Jay.
"I'm not going to pick any of them. I already have a date." Jay says as he tucks Mal into his side, as Mal blushes. Jay and Carlos start laughing.
"Jay? Ho's the best way to ask out a girl?" Carlos nervously asks Jay as they stop laughing.
"Listen, all you gotta do..." Jay trails off as Carlos listens to him intensely. "Is look like me." Jay finishes with a chuckle.
"Oh haha." Carlos fakes laughs.
Jane then walks over and Carlos turns into a blushing, stuttering mess. 'He totally likes her.' After they have a very awkward conversation Jay decides to end Carlos's misery and drags him off to class before they were late. I was about to follow them when Jane holds me back.
"Hey Scarlett. OK I hate to bug you but the decorations for the cotillion need to be decided. So I hate to um...", Jane trails off looking for the right word.
"Bug me?" I finish for her as she nods. "Listen I have to get to class." I try to says but Jane doesn't let me leave.
"Please it will be real quick. OK so nod for decorations: Aisle Runners, Backdrops & Scene Setters, Balloons, Banners, Candles & Votives, Cardboard Cutouts, Ceiling Decorations, Centerpieces, and Streamers. Also party gifts: Pen toppers, chains, key chains. Or we could do all three. Honestly I would choose the pen toppers" Jane starts listing off and I take a deep breath as my eyes turn their dragon green, which only happens when I'm really stressed or overwhelmed. Jane stared at me nervously as I close my eyes and reopen them, to show my eyes as their normal brown color.
"You know what? Pen toppers sound like a good idea." I tell her.
"Yeah?" She asks and I nod. "Pen toppers it is." She mutters as she marks it down on her clipboard.
Mal, Evie, and Loonie then walk over, "I can't wait to see what your wedding will look like." Lonnie says cheerfully and me not really paying attention to what she said speaks up.
"Yeah me too...Wait! What!?" I shout a little at the end wondering what the heck she os talking about. 'Wedding? There is no wedding.'
"Oh, yeah, I've read about it. The royal cotillion is like getting engaged to be engaged to be engaged." Mal says, and Jane and Loonie nod.
"I knew it!" Evie squeals.
"Everyone knew it!" Lonnie tells her.
"I didn't! How come nobody told me that?" I exclaimed. "Is my whole life just planned out right in front of me?" I ask and all the girls basically just nod.
Before I could say anything else Ben walks up," Hi Scarlett." He greets me.
"Hi Ben." The girls all greet in union. Jane then pulls Ben to the side and they both whisper back and forth as me , Mal, Evie and Lonnie slowly walk away. "Uh...see you later?" Ben asks me.
"Okay." I relieved unenthusiastically as me and the girls minus Jane finally walk away and too class that we were now late for.
