Things seemed to be going good for once with the sloth pair. For the first time they didn't have any emotional stress at home and it seemed like the world had let up on them a bit. However it was short lived as they ran into bad luck after only a few days, but it wasn't between them this time. It was from an outside force.

"(Y/n)..." Kuro's voice rang in the girl's ears though she didn't react to it. "(Y/n), are you alright..?" He called again.
The girl sighed and opened her eyes. She looked backed over her shoulder to see that the vampire was waiting for a response. "What. Do you think?" She asked sharply, her tone was rude but she meant no harm by it.
He furrowed his brow and stepped to the side a bit to remain in her view. "I'm sorry-"
"It's not your fault, it's C3's..." she sighed and looked down to her newly injured leg. "I don't get why they can't leave us alone.. it's not like we have lives or anything.."
Kuro looked down to the girl's leg as well. It had been wrapped for a severe injury, the rest of her body sustaining scrapes and a couple bruises. He felt guilty for letting (y/n) get hurt, but he hadn't expected to be attacked and engaged in a nearly full-on fight in the middle of the day.
     "You're healed right..?" She asked.
"Uh-... Yeah, I'm okay.." he mumbled and took his cat form to lay with the girl, between her and the side of the couch.
The two sat and relaxed for a while in silence. The girl ended up recalling what had happened between them and C3 today. They were just hanging out like normal people, and found that they were being followed. They tried to ignore it and keep things peaceful but that quickly changed. They managed to escape, but not unscathed.

"Hey at least we know I'm not entirely useless..." the girl thought out loud as she remembered the confrontation.
Kuro looked up to her for a second before resting his head down once more. "..Yeah I guess you're a better fighter than I thought... I was worried about those gloves.." he said with a slight yawn. ".. I still think it's better not to do anything, though.."
"Well...~" the girl disagreed. "It's not the same when someone's pushing you around."
     "They're not pushing us around."
"Kuro." The girl said in an irritated tone. She picked up the cat and reminded him of her injury before setting him back down on her stomach. "Yes. They are."
The black cat looked up to her for a moment seeing that she was still mad about the whole topic, even though she looked pretty calm. He looked away knowing she had him beat, he couldn't dismiss this. She was right about everything. Luckily, he was saved from having to speak by the obnoxious ringing of (y/n)'s phone.

"Ugh.." the girl groaned, ".. that's probably Lilly.. Kuro, can you answer it? I'm kinda done with today..."
Kuro sighed but did as he was told, rolling himself off the couch and taking his human form. He picked up the phone and answered in a tired motion.
     "Hey.."
"Kuro..? Oh, I didn't expect you to pick up~" Lilly said on the other side of the line.
"Oh.. (y/n) couldn't come to the phone.." he said.
     "Is she okay?" Lilly asked.
"Uhm..." Kuro hummed looking back at the girl for a second. "...yeah, she's okay.."
"That's good." Lilly replied. "Well I was just calling to confirm the meeting for this week and all"
'"Meeting..?" Kuro thought out loud.
(Y/n) heard Kuro and turned over her shoulder to face him. After a second it hit her what he was talking about, she groaned and laid her arm over her face. "Craap.. I forgot about that..~" She whined. "Agh, what are we gonna do..~?"
Kuro sighed and stood up with the phone. "Oh.. Yeah, were not going." He said bluntly.

"What??" (Y/n) and Lilly both  said from either sides of the line.
The girl forced herself to sit up, questioning the vampire. "What do you mean, we're not going? We have to." She said. She would've said more if it weren't for Kuro beginning to walk away from her. "Kuro-agh!" She winced as she tried to get up and follow him, the pain in her leg stopping her.

The vampire walked into the other room to be able to talk in private without (y/n) objecting.
"We aren't going, (y/n) hurt her leg.." He said.
"She did?? I thought you said she was okay?" Lilly said worriedly.
"I didn't think that's what you meant by 'okay'" he replied.
"What other meaning is there?- never mind. What happened??"
Kuro hesitated for a moment. He didn't want to speak of it more than he had too but it was important for his brothers to know. "..C3..." he sighed.
It took a moment for Lilly to respond, "They're still after you two..." he mumbled but it still went through the phone. "Ah, she's not hurt badly is she..?" He asked.
"...one of them shot her in the leg.. She can't stand.. at least not right now.." Kuro mumbled, his tone easily showed his worry.
"(Y/n)'s a tough girl. She'll be okay, I'm sure of it." Lilly assured.
     Kuro sighed through the phone.
"Don't worry yourself too much, brother. I'll tell the others to be cautious at the meeting." Lilly said.
"..okay." The Servamp of sloth mumbled.
"Ah, have to go.. You and (y/n), take care, okay?"
     "Yeah..."
"Bye~" Lilly said and hung up the phone.

Kuro sighed and turned off the girl's phone before walking back out to the living room. (Y/n) sat up hearing him enter.
"How dare you leave me like that??" She whined half-heartedly. "What did you say to him??"
"Nothing important..." he replied with a yawn. "Just that we aren't going anywhere this week..."
"But we have to go to the meeting-"
"He said it was fine.." Kuro said, sitting next to her. He settled his weight against her side and rested his head on her shoulder. ".. you wouldn't be able to walk there anyways..." he mumbled.
The girl sighed and pet the vampire's head. "I guess you're right.. I feel bad though." She said.
"There's nothing that can be done..." he replied, leaning further into the girl's touch.

They spent a moment in peace before the girl's mind decided to work against her again. Having the pain in her leg as a constant reminder wasn't a big help either.
"Why do they hate us..?" She asked, her tone slightly saddened. She wasn't very upset about it, but there was a weight in her heart from the thought.
Kuro felt the change in her mood and sat up to look at her. He also felt disheartened by the sense of hatred he felt from the world. He felt bad that the girl now had to experience this as well. "I don't know..." he sighed, laying against her to comfort them both.
She leaned back slightly so they'd both be more relaxed and unconsciously let her fingers play with a few strands of the vampire's hair. "It sucks having to deal with c3, I can't imagine how you feel with this happening your whole life..."
"I'm more concerned with you than them right now.." he mumbled looking down to her injury. He wasn't capable of protecting her the way she needed. He wasn't good enough. It was his fault she got hurt. If they weren't together c3 wouldn't be on him as much, and they wouldn't mind her at all.
"I'm okay, Kuro, it just hurts.." she said watching his longing gaze turn away from her. "Don't worry too much. It's going to heal and I'll be fine, got it?"
He looked back up to the girl receiving a reassuring smile and nodded slightly. Her view on the situation eased his heart, as if she always knew how to cheer him up.
"-If anything, you should worry about having to do all the house work." (Y/n) teased.
"Ahh." Kuro whined closing his eyes. "That's such a pain..."
The girl laughed silently. "I'm serious though~ at least for a day or two."
He groaned and pulled himself up from the couch, slouching excessively as if the gravity was too much for him.
"You don't have to do it right now" she said, laughing at his pathetic actions.
"I might as well..." he replied tiredly. "..I'm hungry anyways..."
The girl pulled herself to look over the back of the couch, watching the vampire make his way to the kitchen. He decided to make himself some food before he actually did any chores.
"Can you make me something too?" (Y/n) called.
He sighed looking over to her. He liked it much better when she was the one serving, but then again she couldn't physically do it, and he owed her anyways. "Agh, fine.."
     "Thank you~"
     "Yeah.." he replied.
