"Don't you need your PDM?" Trent asked, half an hour before I needed to go to Arnold's house. It was 7:30, and I had to be next door at 8.

I sighed. "Yeah. My sugar's gonna be real screwed up if I don't have my PDM."

Arnold had called and told me not to eat since he was going to serve me dinner. No one had been up for that, but it wasn't like we could say no. So now I had no PDM to track how much insulin I needed in my body and I didn't know where to go to get it.

"I always got yours from the Walmart Pharmacy by our house. Is there one here?" Trent turned towards Kaleb, who nodded.

"Yeah. I can go get one. You guys don't know the way around and Matt's just too stupid."

"Hey!" Matt held his hand over his heart. "I take offense to that!"

Kaleb grinned. "It was supposed to be offensive, idiot."

Ellie walked up and hugged Matt from behind. "Well... last time we trusted you to go do the groceries, you came back with ice cream, cookies, whipped cream, muffins, biscuits, and peeps, for heaven's sake!"

Matt crossed his arms and pouted. "You're supposed to be my ever-supporting girlfriend, El!"

Ellie giggled. "Don't worry, I love you. But you're just this huge, adult-sized kid. It's funny. Yet cute."

"Cute is a word to hurt a guy's ego."

Kaleb rolled his eyes at their antics. "Bye guys. I'll be back before Jess has to go to Arnold's."

We all waved goodbye and went to the living room. I was thankful the Carmin's had a huge living room, so we could all fit. Matt and Ellie sat together on the love seat, while Trent and Ally sat on the three-person couch. Roxy sat on the other love seat where she and Kaleb would usually sit. Tyler sat himself on the neon green beanbag, pulling me on top of him.

I blushed slightly at our position, and everyone laughed at me. I heard Tyler's deep chuckle as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I could feel the vibrations of his chest against my face when I hid myself in his shirt.

"Jess, you better be careful. I don't want you getting hurt. That crazy dude could do anything." My older brother looked at me sadly. He knew I didn't want to do this. Hell, no one wanted me to go there. But I seriously didn't have a choice.

"I know, Trent. I'll be on the look out. What can some guy smaller than leprechaun do?" I smiled weakly, trying to lighten the atmosphere. It had become abruptly serious once Trent had brought up the inevitable: I was going to spend the night with Arnold. A full, flipping 12 hours.
