Hearing the empty silence of the room I continue to stare at my phone.

He had died.

Josh, while texting me about our day didn't look up- he didn't look up and see the blocked off road- he didn't see all the loose asphalt, all the holes in the ground all the-

potholes.

I sit still, looking blankly at the words on my phone:

Josh♡: Tyler, I really hope we can get to someday have sejenebrhdirrhebwiowjw

I remember immediately after that text, the following:

Me: josh?
Me: ...
Me: Josh that isn't very funny.

Me: josh please tell me what.  WHAT do you hope we can someday have??

Me: Josh I'm really scared, now. Please call me back.

Me: JOSH

Thumbing over the screen, I pull up a snatched photo I got of him. On our first date.

He looks so happy.

Putting away my phone, I slowly loft myself off his bed and touch his side table slowly. Dusty. I sigh and push my feelings out of the way.

Walking out of the house I draw a quick breathe and smile.

Josh wasn't real.
He wasn't ever real.
It's all not.
He isn't real.

The rain starts again.
