Spending the night on the cold tile floor wasn't the best feeling, especially since I had to share a small space with Kennedy. She whispers really weird things in her sleep. Mostly I just heard things like "Wait!" and "Come back!", which was pretty chilling.
Even worse, though, was my dreams.
We were standing in the lab, in front of the Vioval Portal. Willnia was there, and she was walking into the portal, walking away from me. It felt like being stabbed in the heart, but I don't know why. I mean, I'm not that close to Willnia. I've only spoken to her once.
And yet, I feel like we have a connection, one that reaches far beyond this world. It reaches through time, through dimensions. Like our very souls are connected to one another.
Could she be my soulmate, and we just haven't explored it yet?
I check my cellphone. The time is 7:00 a.m.
"Kennedy." I say, shaking her shoulder.
"What?" she mumbles groggily.
"We have to go."
She stretches, standing up.
"Then let's go. I'll change a few things in the schedules so that no one will have any reason to enter the lab. You steal all the keys." she orders.
"Aye aye, captain." I salute.
"God." she breathes, shaking her head. She smiles despite her initial reaction.
I head out, searching classroom after classroom, snatching key after key. By 7:40, I had every way to enter the science lab in my hands. I decide to stash them all in the lab with all our food.
"Hide in your locker until people start coming." Kennedy tells me. I obey, unlocking and wedging myself into the narrow metal box. I keep the lock with me, locking and unlocking it over and over to keep myself busy as I wait.
The bell rings throughout the empty school, as it does every morning at 7:50. I wait a few more minutes until I hear the shuffling footsteps of students walking towards us. I peek out to ensure they aren't looking, then jump out of my locker and act as if I just arrived. Although I am about half an hour earlier than usual, no one bats an eye.
Kennedy is acting quite casual, too, despite having been squeezed in the mess of her locker for ten minutes.
I search the hall for Willnia, but am unsuccessful. She mustn't be here yet. And thank God for that; if she knew I was just huddled in my locker, which happens to be her locker, she might kill me.
Kennedy isn't worried, though; Ken is the male version of her, and Kennedy is always late. Ken isn't gonna be here to watch her climb out of his locker at 7:50 a.m.
"Nailed that." Kennedy whispers to me, pumping her fist in victory. I just shake my head.

I read a textbook in my seat at the back of the class, Kennedy staring boredly around the room beside me.
Suddenly, Willnia walks in, and it seems a breeze is blowing through the room at her approach. Her dusty brown hair, the exact same shade as mine, billows down her back like a waterfall. Her liquid chocolate eyes warm the room. Her striped blue dress flows around her as she walks.
She's absolutely stunning.
She sits in her seat---my seat---and opens, low and behold, a science textbook. I guess we have the same literary preferences, too.
Eventually, it's time to head to our first class of the day. Time flies when you're staring at the very definition of beauty.
