The next morning, Andromeda is woken by the sounds of someone moving in her room. She sits up, the sheets swishing around her, and looks around at the unfamiliar furniture. Her pillow had slid to the floor. "Mornindromida," a girl with short black hair says groggily before she falls flat on her face onto her bed as she tries to put her shoe on.

"Liz, morning," Andromeda replies slowly, her mind slowly recalling the events of last night. How could she have ever forgotten her first night at Hogwarts? She yawns and slides out of bed, shivering a little at the loss of warmth. She looks down at her trunks and blinks sleepily. The robes and clothes she had pulled out to find her pajamas weren't in the messy piles that she remembered. The two trunks she had brought were set one on top of the other and her uniform was laid out neatly on top of them. She definitely wouldn't have done that, but she shrugs the confusion off and changes into the standard black robes.

"Want to go down for breakfast?" Liz asks, much more awake now.

"Yeah," Andromeda agrees as she slips her shoes on, glad her papa had convinced her to get the slip on ones instead of the tying ones. Knots and strings wouldn't be friends with her fuzzy mind right now. She looks at Myles, still sleeping on her extra pillow. A click of her tongue gets a slit of blue eyes for a second before he turns his head and settles a paw over his face. Andromeda smiles and looks at the other sleeping person. "What about Vanessa?"

"She's still sleeping. Want me to try to wake her up?" Liz asks.

"Sure," Andromeda replies, sitting on the edge of her bed and watches them through bleary eyes.

"Vanessa, it's time for breakfast," Liz says, gently shaking the form hidden under the blankets. She even had a pillow over her head, hiding her completely. Liz looks back at Andromeda when there was no response.

Andromeda shrugs. "Pull her covers off," she offers. It was what her papa had always done to Celeste when she never woke up on time. Liz nods and pulls on the silk covers. A screech sounds from the bed and Liz jumps back in surprise, falling over her bed again. Vanessa sits straight up and glares blindly around the room. Her silky hair from the night before tangled up like an owl's nest.

"What?!" she shrieks at them.

"We, uh, just wanted to see if you wanted to go down to breakfast with us?" Liz asks hesitantly.

"I'll be down in a minute!" she snaps, falling back down on her bed and yanking the covers back over her head. Andromeda just stares at the form under the covers. She stands up and walks backwards to the door of their dormitory, as if taking her eyes off of the bed would make the monster attack again.

Liz takes a different approach, not looking back at the bed and rushing towards the door. When they exit, Liz says, "Don't look into her eyes. She'll turn you to stone."

Andromeda grins and giggles as they head down the stairs, past the marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw and step into the circular common room.

"What's the joke?" a shadow passes over them and the two first years jump in surprise. It's Eston. Andromeda frowns and looks away from his interested eyes.

"Were you waiting here for us to come down?" Liz asks bluntly.

"Yes," he replies, just as straightforward. "I didn't think you guys would be able to find the Great Hall again this morning. Things get confusing here sometimes. Come on then."

He heads out of the common room and down the spiral staircase. As he leads the two down the five floors to the Great Hall, he points out hallways where first-year classes are. He's easier to follow than the Prefect was last night. "Down there is Charms class. Professor Flitwick is the teacher and our house head. And back that way is Transfiguration. Professor McGonagall teaches it. She's pretty strict, but as long as you don't goof off, you'll be fine. As you can see, we're back at the entranceway. Down those stairs over there is where you go down to the dungeons. Potions class is down there. Don't be late. Snape teaches Potions. Be extra careful around him. He likes docking points for no reason. And here's the Great Hall," he says, gesturing grandly at the large doors as if he magically produced them himself.

"Thanks," Andromeda says politely, quickly escaping past him to enter the loud room. Students were sitting at their house tables, laughing and eating just like last night. The two first years find an open spot halfway down the Ravenclaw table, ending up sitting across from three first year boys.

"Hi," one says, beginning the conversation as the other boy finishes chewing and the two girls put food on their plates. "I'm Anthony Prewitt. This here is Conner Spinks and on the far side of him is Calvin Tombs. You two are Andromeda Sorin-Mureau and Eliza Chardon, right?"

The two stare at him and nod. "Ignore him," Conner says after swallowing his food. "He's just showing off to prove he was put in the right house. He has an older sister in Hufflepuff."

"Oh, that makes sense," Liz says, nodding sympathetically. Andromeda doesn't do anything. She never did know why people looked down on Hufflepuffs so much. They seemed like the friendliest of the people in the room.

"I'd like to meet her," Andromeda finds herself saying. The three boys look at her in surprise.

"Yeah, okay," Anthony says. She looks at him and his cheeks turn pink. The five continue to chat. Vanessa eventually makes it down to the breakfast table. Liz and Andromeda make room for her, avoiding eye contact. The boys look at them, confused, but they just shake their heads and stare down at the table, hiding smiles of mutual amusement. Vanessa just gulps down a glass of orange juice, waits for it to refill, then swallows another half. The boys, still confused, just wait for someone to let them know what's happening.

"Good morning!" Vanessa says brightly as though she had just noticed them. She smiles warmly at the three boys across the table. "I'm sorry, I wasn't really paying much attention at the sorting ceremony, what are your names again?"

Anthony jumps in. "I'm Anthony Prewitt. This is Conner Spinks and the one beyond him is Calvin Tombs. You're Vanessa Dromwell, right?"

"Someone was paying attention during the sorting," Vanessa says, giving him a quirked smile. Anthony blushes again.

"So," Conner begins, looking at Liz, "what are your plans for the day? Eliza, right?"

"Liz," she says sharply. "Call me Liz. And there was a third year who was going to show us around. What was his name again?" Anthony's eyebrows furrow, upset he didn't know the name.

"Eston," Andromeda said. "Would you three like to join us? Unless you have other plans."

"No, we can go with you. We were just going to wander, but an actual tour would be much better," Conner says.

"Should we get Thomas, Roger, Brennecky, and Oliver?" Anthony asks. He turns to the three girls, "they're some other first years, but they have their own room and it's right across from ours. I'm guessing Samantha Prewitt, Hannah Kyst, and Emma Fullin have their own room. I haven't seen them this morning, though."

Andromeda was getting the feeling that if she ever needed to know who someone was, she should ask Anthony. "Are you good with history?" she asks him.

He looks at her in surprise. "Yeah, it's my best subject. How'd you know?"

She shrugs, "just a feeling."
