I knew I should be training more so I was working on my hand to hand fighting with Adam. He wore pads as I pounded all my frustrations into him.
"Ow." He muttered as I dealt him a full blown punch. Even through all the padding, he still felt them. I made a mental note to get angry before fights. I continued punching. I was being a bitch to Lord Harry and I knew it. I wasn't really that angry about our fight after the lounge incident, what had me angry was that he thought I can't get past these tests without him.
"I'll show you." I muttered before landing a devastating blow to poor Adam's stomach. I broke out of my insane anger-driven-violence-crazy trance to see Adam doubled over on the ground.
"Oh my god Adam!" I exclaimed, kneeling next to him.
"I'm fine." He squeaked.
"You need someone with more skill in fighting." Said a low voice behind me. I turned to see Lord Harry walking down the mountain trail.
"Oh good idea, do you know anyone who isn't a total dick wad?" I asked. Adam looked at me with his mouth wide open, absolutely astonished I had said such a thing. Lord Harry laughed quietly.
"Adam, go to Liam. Tell him I sent you, he'll get you fixed up." He said. Adam nodded and limped out of the courtyard.
"Hit me." He said. He didn't need to tell me twice. I brought my right shoulder back and hit him with as much force as I could. But while my right side was exposed, Lord Harry drove his fist into my side. It hurt but it wasn't too bad.
"UGH!" I screamed.
"You're leaving yourself exposed. Try again." He said calmly. I did as before, but this time, I brought my left arm down and blocked his punch.
"Good. Now get some water, you look like you're gonna pass out." He said. He was telling the truth. My head felt light and it was difficult to breath. I sat on the low wall and brought the water bottle to my lips. The cool liquid rushed down my throat and the ground stopped spinning.
"Do you know what I did when you left?" He said, not taking his eyes off the ground.
"No." I spat.
"I went and punched an eight hundred year old tree down." He said with a laugh. "I was drawn to that tree. I felt as if I had to punch that one." He said.
"Okay so? You really wanted to punch a tree. Big deal. I've been punching Adam for the last hour." I said.
"Yes but the tree I punched down, was the tree that I flew her up." He said looking into my eyes.
"Who is "her"?"
"The only girl I swore I'd ever care about...until I met you." He said, I couldn't read his expression which didn't help things.
"What was her name?" I asked, softening. His unreadable expression broke. His eyes swimming with pain as he struggled to pull himself together.
"Azia." He said in a monotone voice.
"That's a different name."
"Well it was four hundred years ago..." He chuckled. I let myself smile.
"I was lying." He said looking at his hands, "I''m just rubbish at expressing my feelings." I jumped down from the wall.
"Me too." I admitted, which earned me a small smile. Two people who are rubbish at expressing their feelings come to a lot of awkward silences, but I've never experienced one as awkward as this. Lord Harry, obviously fed up with things being awkward, grabbed my arm and pulled me away.
