{Chapter Four}
"Ugh," Lily groaned and touched the back of her throbbing head."Oh my gosh, Lily! Are you okay? Do you want some water?" her mother fretted, kneeling next to her.
"Yes, I think so, mommy, and I don't want any water," she replied, looking around. She was on her bed, tucked under the covers.
"Oh, Lily, we were so worried! Your father and I were looking everywhere for you. What on Earth were you doing in the middle of the woods at night? Don't you know we have wolves?" Virginia scolded.
"Alec wanted to show me his house. It was really scary, mommy!" Lily explained. Suddenly, memories came flooding back. Alec laughing as they ran through the forest, him showing her his house, and him... yelling at her. Tears pricked at her eyes. Alec hated her, and that's all that mattered.
"Oh, honey, don't cry. Everything's gonna be okay," Virginia soothed, rubbing Lily's back. Lily sniffled.
"No it's not! Alec hates me," she brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them.
"I'm sure he was just in a bad mood. He'll get over it," said Virginia. Lily shook her head.
"No mommy, he really hates me," she argued. Virginia sighed.
"Well, Lily, I'm sure you'll find more friends tomorrow at kindergarten. You just need to get some rest, alright? Good night, sweetheart," she kissed the top of Lily's forehead, and Lily laid back.
"Mommy?" Lily called, "Will there be other kids in kindergarten my age? Will they be nice?"
"Of course, darling," Virginia answered, "Now go to sleep," With that, she closed the door. A boy appeared next to Lily, looking tired and slightly worried.
"Lily?" Alec whispered. Lily frowned, and turned away. She didn't want to talk to him right now. He hurt her feelings deeply.
"Lily, can you please talk to me?" he asked, as if begging. She sat up, looking into the hazel eyes of the boy who once made her so happy.
"Why do you want to talk if you hate me?" she snapped, crossing her petite arms. He sighed.
"Look, I was stressed out, okay?" he defended himself. Lily looked confused.
"What does 'stressed' mean?" she asked. He rolled his eyes.
"You'll find out when you're older," he replied, not wanting to explain. Lily groaned. She hated it when people said that! When will she be older? She's older now, by a couple of seconds!
"Stop making excuses," she growled, proud that she used the big word her mommy taught her a few days ago.
"I'm not! You have no idea what I have to go through, okay? Stop judging me!" he said, his temper rising. He never was the best at controlling his anger.
"I'm not! I just wanted to be a friend, okay? I didn't know I was annoying!" she wailed, throwing her hands up in the air. Then she brought them back down and covered her face with them, crying softly. "Just go away, Alec. I don't want to see you anymore."
Alec stared at her in shock. She was sending him away? Sadness washed over him, and he regretted yelling at her. He didn't mean to be so harsh, but a lot has been going on lately, but he never meant to take it out on her. She was right- she had done nothing wrong. Still, he felt anger bubbling inside of him, and it was overwhelming until finally, it exploded.
"Fine!" he shouted, "You'll never see me again!"
And with that, he disappeared.
She never saw him again.
Aw... that made me sad.. ):
