I woke up to a severly bad headache. I looked around and found myself in my room.

I remembered what happened to me on the cliff and instantly turned my head side to side checking over my shoulder. But I saw nothing.

I took a moment to calm myself down and wondered if it was all a bad dream. I heard my door creak as it opened and turned to see Amara in the doorway.

"How are you feeling?" Amara asked

"What happened?" I replied laying a hand over my head.

" I think the time has come for you to know who you really are, Caleb."

" What do you mean?"

" Aryen and I are not sure as of this moment, but one thing is for certain, your black wings signify you are no ordinary Angel."

"What? What are you trying to tell me? An Angel? Me? You must be joking!" I replied back.

"Have you any idea how insane that sounds, Amara?"

She looked at me with calmness in her eyes and said " You have a lot to learn, Caleb. Today you will know the truth about your Mother and Father and what they have done for you to keep you safe."

Who was my Mother? Who was my Father? or better yet, What were they?

"Come, we have a lot of things to talk about."

She helped me up and led me to the dining table where Aryen was sitting.

"Sit down and eat. You need to get your energy back."

Aryen said as he pointed to a bowl of porridge in front of me. I sat down and slowly tried to gobble what I could of the porridge. I slowly reached my hand over my shoulder and felt my back. The burning sensation was still there, but no sign of the wings. I put my spoon down on the table and drank two mugs of water. Water has never felt so cool to me before. And boy, was I thirsty!

Aryen first told me about the great war  as I rested both my elbows on the table. He told me about  their defeat and why they chose to stay here on earth."

"That night, I stayed with you in your Mother's living room. I studied you carefully and wondered about what will become of you. " He said to me.

"Your mother, my dear boy, was no ordinary woman. She holds extraordinary gifts that she uses for the greater good. She is an Elder Guardian.."

I stared at him blankly not knowing what to believe.

He cleared his throat with a slight cough and said,

"She is an Elder Guardian, An Angel.. like Amara and I. We all fought side by side during the Holy War centuries ago. Our defeat made us live under the radars of the humans."

My head felt like bubbles were coming out of my ears. Everything just sounded so abnormal.

I was in the process of trying to take all of it in when a thought hit me.

"I don't mean to be rude, I just wanna make sure I heard you correctly. My Mother is an elder guardian? not was?"

Both nodded in agreement.

"She is alive, then? Where is she?"

an overwhelming feeling took over me and I felt ecstatic to know she's alive.

" I assume you remember the stories Amara and I used to tell you as a child. You favored one particular story out of all we have told."

"Yes, the story of Greigo and Alleria. What about it?" I asked.

"Your Mother's name is Alleria, and Greigo was your father. Caleb, you were the baby in the cradle."

My eyes widened in shock, but I seriously couldn't wrap my head around it.

"So you're telling me, my favorite childhood story was actually of my own life, both of you are angels stuck in a rut here on earth, that my mother is alive and my father is really dead, and I'm the offspring of an angel with a human turned demon and the wings that grew out of my back was just the cherry on top of my freakshow of a life?!" My.voice grew louder as I let out a small chuckle.

"So.. when do you think I'll get the golden round thingy above my head? I'm most certain you already have those right?"

Both Guardians looked at each other and a flash of light suddenly blinded my sights. For a brief moment, I placed both my hands over my eyes and peered through the side of it as the light became bearable.

I stared in awe as Amara and Aryen stood tall in Golden white armors with both their eyes fixed on me. Both had magnificent white wings that rested just behind their backs. A golden round light appeared above them and a halo appeared on each of their heads. They looked so beautiful!

"Do we need to say more?" a smile formed on her face

I laid my eyes on their beautiful wings, I took my time to admire them and remembered what I saw on the cliff. My wings were black as the night.

I walked up to Amara and touched her wings, it was soft and elegant, whiter than snow.

"They're beautiful. But mine are..different."

I saw both the guardian's expression change.

"Yes, we saw them. We were as well surprised as you are. We thought your father's humanity has saved you from all this."

"What happens to me now?

" We have to leave town and keep on our feet, Caleb. Who knows what Lustre has sensed now that your gifts have come out."

"But where will we go?" I asked

" We first have to bring you to Althea. Seek her wisdom. During the war she mentioned a coming of salvation in the form we least expect. She said it will be a battle between two sides of one body. Whatever he chooses, shall triumph over all."

"Do not mention this to anyone. Do you understand me, Caleb?" Aryen's tone was serious.

"We leave at first light. Do not burden yourself with any pleasures."

I just stood there, overwhelmed with all that's happening. I wanted to wake up hoping this was all a dream. But dreams never came to me, not ever.
