I snuck out of the house an hour after supper. I walked over to the village tavern and saw my friends sitting on the last table to my left. I walked over to them as William, my friend of 14 years handed me a cup of fine wine.
"Well you look like you need a drink! You're not looking too good my friend! What've you been up to?" He asked
"Everything is..."
my words slurred when I saw a face that stood out to me in the crowd.
Elora, the girl I fancied ever since I can remember. Her Auburn hair, green eyes and amazing smile has got me hooked for the longest time. I was just too much of a wuss to even try talking to her.
"There you go again drooling over sweet elora! Wipe that lovesick face out you look horrible!" William said laughing out loud.
I felt sad that I had to leave her. Not getting a chance to talk to her is even worse. I gulped the wine down and summed up all my strength. I stood up and walked over to where she was standing.
She turned to me just in time.
"Oh, Caleb! How are you this evening?"
It took me a few seconds to respond.
"Fine ,uhm, Do you wanna go for a walk...with..me? I mean not walk with me here, I mean walk outside, walk around, walk around outside..."
I stuttered as a jumble of words escaped my mouth.
"You can walk me home." She said with a smile.
It felt like my heart wanted to pound its way out of my chest. I took her hand and escorted her out of the tavern.

The night was perfect. The cool breeze drying the bullets of sweat on my head.
"So, uhm.. what are your plans? I asked her
"Pardon? What are my what?" she giggled.
"I meant your plans, plans for the future?"
It was a very shitty question but I couldn't think straight with my heart pounding like mad. I wanted to disappear!
"Oh, well, I want to board a ship, and set sail to a far away land. I wanna travel and eventually settle down."
she replied as we walked pass the bridge going to her house
She wanted the same things that I did. Just my dumb luck that I was leaving and probably never going to see her again.
"And you?" She turned to me
"Uhm, a soldier, on a ship. Just like you, setting sail to lands far beyond my knowledge."
"hmm interesting!" she smiled.
a few more steps and we arrived in front of her house.
She turned to me " Thankyou!"
This was it! I wanted to pull her in and kiss her. I'd be damned if I don't!
"Caleb?"
I was so deep into my thoughts I didn't notice that I just stood their and stared at her. I didn't even hear what she said.
She was about to head inside when I grabbed her hand and pulled her in slowly. I leaned closer and closed the gap between our lips.
It felt like I wanted to realease my wings and fly! It was the best two seconds of my life.
She looked into my eyes and smiled. She turned and headed inside turning for a quick glance and closed the door. I started to walk home with the biggest smile on my face.
The thought of leaving her rushed into my mind again. It wiped the smile off my face and continued walking home as sadness took over me. I knew I would never get to see her again. It killed me as realization struck. I could feel my heart breaking.
