I saw Caleb's wings release to its full form for the very first time.

It didn't hide itself like the last time when we are on the cliff.

I leaned my back against the wall as I examined his wings carefully. They were jet black at the top that faded to gold. Its the first time I have ever seen anything like it. Angels had a solid white color, while some of the Higher Elder Guardians like his mother had a mixture of gold or silver that glimmered with light.

I couldn't help myself but feel proud of what I was seeing. If only Ariella and Greigo was here to witness this, they would be proud of their son as well.  His dark wings indicate that he is not a full Angel, but the golden touch at the bottom also signifies he is not of pure demon.

He is of different kind. The three of us are still not certain of what he really is, that's why we went to Althea for answers. She is the keeper of the golden book and I am very confident we will find the answers we seek.

I glanced over to Amara and saw she too was taken by the sight of Caleb's wings. She walked closer to Althea who was already standing right next to Caleb.

"Well done, Caleb. You have enforced your connection to your wings and now you can call upon it whenever you wish. It will go back to hiding only if you tell it to." Althea said.

"I have never seen anything like it, Althea." Amara muttered. " He is a different kind of his own!"

"I doubt it, Amara. If I correctly recall, the golden book has spoken of his kind once before. Let us  seek the knowledge written in the book and get the answers to all our lingering questions."

Althea turned to face Caleb and said "Command your wings to go back into hiding. It is time to get the answers we seek."

Caleb for a second looked like he had no idea of what to do. He closed his eyes and after a moment, his wings went back to hiding.

As we were ascending up the stairs Caleb grabbed my hand and I turned to face him.

"Do you think I am evil. Aryen?" he asked with an unsettling tone.

"No. Caleb."

I answered  and placed a hand over his shoulder.

" Your father might've made some mistakse, but he is a good man. his soul was of pure kindness. and love.  Lustre just found him easy to trick because of his humanity."

Caleb just stared at me and lowered his head.

"I vowed to protect you with my life. While doing so, I have also watched you grow into an admirable young man. Do not fret, Caleb. I feel no darkness in your soul."

I looked at him with assuring eyes and continued to walk up the stairs. We reached the main floor and Althea brought out the golden book. She sat for a little while and stood up.

"I know what he is." her voice was serious. Then she started to narrate what she had found in the book.

She said there once was a  creature like Caleb who roamed these lands a long long time ago.

A young woman, to be exact. Her name was Rielle. The book did not speak of where she came from, but  mentioned the old treaty the Humans, the Demons and the Angels used to have. She was not of demon or of angel kind. Both heaven and hell was in no position to take hold of her.  They called her the dream catcher.

She was the keeper of dreams, good and the bad. She had the power of blessing wonderful dreams and insights to the future for a dreamer who deserves it, as well as take the dreamers life by sending them into a dream that will lead to the capture of their souls so no judgement will come upon them.

She can leave any Angel, Demon or Human trapped in the dream world for eternity . She had gifts of both demon and angel but with the only weakness of the humanity of a mortal.

Her humanity led her to fall inlove with  Adonael, one of the Archangels who were sent down to earth to guard the treaty. Adonael  was given permission to turn human out of his love for Rielle and they were blessed with one daughter.

A demon hiding in the shadows wanted Rielle and use her for power over all kind. He knew of the dream catcher's weakness and succeeded in killing Adonael in his sleep.

The death of her beloved broke her spirit and it left her in distraught. Weakness claimed her as the demon stole her soul and kept it hidden. No judgement fell upon her poor soul.

"So, there is a chance that I might end with the same fate as her?" Caleb asked.

Amara and I turned to Althea.

"You decide your own fate, Caleb. One day you will have to choose between whose side you are going to fight with. But keep in mind that whatever you do, do it out of your own free will. Just like your father."

I saw worry in Caleb's face. He is still young and his powers are yet to flourish. But I have faith in him. He will do what he thinks is right, just like what his mother did.
