Walking through the streets of the 21st century is easier than it was back in the hundreds.
Everywhere I went I would always get strange stares of caution from the towns folk whenever they see a glimplse of the marks I have on my body when it peared under my cloak. Now, even humans have them. There are these things they call Tattoos that they get on their bodies.
The only difference I have with them is, mine would glow dim if demons or angels were near.
Normally, I would get a simple nod or a "God bless you!" from several of the angels I bump into through the years. They never stopped to converse or even ask about their other fellow guardians.
Demons are what I sense hell of a lot more often than I wish. I don't really get anything from them. Its usually me that gives them a sword through the chest which I don't think spares them any time to chat and bond over coffee and donuts.
Despite that, I'm actually pretty okay living in this century. The only thing I hate about it are mobile phones.
This thing popped up way before but Aryen only fell for this shit a couple of years ago.
For the longest time, he lived his life the old way. Up until he decided its time for a change after watching an infomercial about mobile phones and the importance of "Keeping in touch with your loved ones" on the television.
He even bought Amara one of her own even when we can all sense if one of us is in need. He has used its full power over me ever since.
Aryen calls me every damn time to either ask me why I didn't do something he told me to do or scold me about why I didn't do something he told me to do.
"Caleb, its late! Why have you not come home yet?!"
"Caleb, Your room is an utter mess! Didn't I remind you to clean it up!?"
"Caleb, For the love of God! The whole house smells of dog droppings! I told you to keep Vienna in the yard!"
Seriously, Where the hell was I when this damn thing was invented? I should've given him a stab to the fucking chest before the idea of "keeping in touch with your loved ones" ever crossed his damn mind.
