David's bithday wish part 1

"Mommy! Catch meee!" Shouted a little boy on top of the kithen table.

I happened to be passing by with a basket full of laundry when he playfully shouted to me but no way was he jumping! "No! no, no, no--ahh!" He jumps and I quickly drop the basket to catch him. I made it in time but his sneakers kicked my stomach making me let out a "Oof!"

He looks at me with a cute concern expression."Sowy mommy! Did I hurt you?"
I smile to and tell him "No...but Happy Birthday David" I guess he was quite excited because today is his fourth birthday. I kiss him on the forehead and hug him tightly.

"Mommy what are we going to do on my birthday?" He asks pulling away from my hug. I think for a moment before saying "how about the coffee shop and then the park?"

His eyes lit up in excitement "yeah!"

"Moana, David, you need to eat breakfast before you do anything." My mother comes out of the kitchen and places two plates of pancakes on the table.

"Pancakes?" Davids eyes widen even more and jumps out of my arms. "Pancakes!! I love you grandma!!" He runs to the table and quickly sits down."come on mommy!"

I laugh and sit on the chair next to him. Ready to eat our meal I look to see the little guy has trouble cutting up his food. "Here let me do it David" I say taking the butter knife.

"No! I'm a big boy I can do it!" He says taking the knife back. My mother giggles knowing he says this every time I try to help.

After a good three minutes of patiently waitng he gives up and hands me the knife. "Thank you mommy..."

I kiss his head "your welcome my little man."
Mother started to eat as well. "So David...today's your birthday and you get a wish after you blow out your candles. What will you wish for?"

"A father! And another brother or sister!"
I nearly choke on my food when he said that so casually. Does he even know what it takes to make another-- wait never mind...
"Moana are you alright!?"

I quickly drink my orange juice which seems to help me a little "I'm...fine!"

Just as I was about to say something else someone opens the door and stomps inside the house. the walls even shake as this person walks. I know who this is...

David jumps to his feet in excitement "Uncle Maui!!" He shouts and goes running to give him a hug in the living room.

My mother reaches for my hand "Moana, I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked..."

"It's alright mom...he can wish whatever he wants...if its what'll make him happy." I nervously laugh and clean up my mess.

I use to have an apartment to myself. I was going to school and everything was going well. Until I got pregnant...not going to lie David was precious to me...I dropped out and took care of him after his father left. Sense then I've lived with my parents and grandmother. Grandma Tala would watch over David after he turned three and I would go to work. There were no problems...but he would seem lonely at times.

"Happy Birthday little guy! Hey look at what I got you!" Maui takes out a giant hook from behind his back.

"A hook! Awesome!!" David take his gift and starts swinging it around.

I roll my eyes at the gift "Maui I told you, he's still a little too young for that!"

"Don't worry Moana its plastic!"
I roll my eyes again and look down at David who seems to be enjoying his gift.

"See he loves it!"

~time skipped~
The coffee shop was the first place to stop. I wanted a cup of coffee and something sweet. David wanted a hot chocolate and a chocolate muffin. When we arrived and waited in line David was immediately drown to a golden retriever that entered the shop. He tugged on my sleeve "mommy! There's a dog! Can I go pet him!?" He whispered.
