(Three weeks later)

??? POV

I walked through the burning village, friends by my side. I shook my head and touched a piece of the charred wooden wall from someone's house or maybe a shop. "Search for survivors," I commanded. They all headed out in different directions as I continued to walk forward. Shoving my hands in my pockets, I kicked stones down the dirt path and looked into the dark sky. Gray smoke mixed with the purple blackness of the night and started to take over. But even through the gray, thick fog, I could still see the dots of white light shining through. I smirked as I looked down and let out a small laugh. I then looked straight ahead and continued walking. Then I saw a flash of a girl's face and purple hair in the trees. It was only for an instant, but I stood staring as if she was still there. I heard someone calling me from behind and turned.

"Let's go!" A figure called from behind the smoke. I looked back once to the jungle and then turned to walk. I flipped the brown hair out of my face and approached my friends. All of them had solemn expressions and the remnants of a smile on my face changed to a frown.

"No survivors?" I asked. He shook his head and I shrugged. We all started to walk back to the base but I turned back once. There I saw her through the darkness, standing there, smiling. I knew her. Where did I know her from? It was going to bug me...

"I'm sorry dude," He whispered in my ear. "I know it's hard losing your home." His voice brought me back from my thoughts and I forgot about the girl for a moment. My home... My village was gone. Oh well, I never liked anyone there anyways except for Tiff...

The girl with the purple hair

I turned back and smiled at her and she waved. The one person I wanted to survive, made it. Too bad I would never see my childhood friend again.

Tiffany's POV

Me and Red were out exploring in the jungle when I smelled smoke. I decided to ignore it but then I heard screams. I looked at Red with panic and he gave me the same worried glance. We ran towards the source, leaping over branches and bushes along the way. A thick smoke covered the village as I stared in awe. There was no more screams and no more fire. Just blackened stone and ash. This was my village, where I grew up. I almost smiled but then stopped myself. Instead I looked at the man standing besides me. Then I remembered something. "I'm going to look for survivors!" I shouted without thinking and ran. My bare feet pounded against the cobble ground as I searched. I looked everywhere for that one boy. Then I caught a glimpse of a figure. I stopped as I saw the group walk away. I didn't want to shout, even when I spotted the brown eyed boy I was searching for. Then he turned to face me and I smiled. He grinned back and I waved. He turned back to his friends and I whispered two words he wouldn't hear.

"Thank you..."

Red came up from behind me, panting.

"Tiff..." He gasped "Slow. Down..." I let out a giggled as he put his arm around my shoulder. I smiled as we walked out of the village and back into the depths of the jungle, but one thought stuck on my mind.

I couldn't get the brown eyed boy out of my head.
