Erika's POV

We finally got Chance to fall asleep in Tessa's room. We tried to keep Tessa busy before she could see what happened to Chance. His eyes were all red and puffy and he seemed super tired. It's 11 A.M. and Jake and I are planning to go see how they are doing.

We walked into a room full of surprises. Chance was pacing back and forth. I could tell he was still screaming inside. Tessa, on the other hand, was sleeping peacefully. She looked like an angel. But after a second she jolted up. I had no idea what was happening. I turned to look at Jake but he was already calming Chance down. I slowly walked up to Tessa's side. I smiled at her and she gave me a weak half smile. I had no idea what it was. The bright, cheerful, energetic, Tessa seemed to have changed.

Jake's POV

I had no idea what to do but my initial reaction was to try to calm Chance down. I knew Erika was going to take care of Tessa.

"Chance, Chance what's going on dude?"

"... huh?"

"Chance snap out of it." It was like he was in another world.

"I'm fine I'm fine." He tried to reassure me acting like he was strong. But I knew Chance. He had the heart of a 13-year-old girl. He was caring and loving but I could tell ever since this accident he was trying to build a wall around his heart. A wall that separated him from his friends. And most importantly, Tessa.

Chance's POV

I woke up and immediately started pacing around the room. Tessa was sleeping. She jolted up right after Erika and Jake walked in. I didn't even bother making eye contact with Tessa. I didn't want to. I don't know what I even want or feel anymore. Jake kept worriedly asking questions. I was trying to reassure him that I was fine. But I knew he could tell I was breaking inside.

But I was still nervous when the time came. Tessa was going to be released today. And I needed to have a talk with her. A talk that I will never forget and she will for sure never forget. Something that would change our lives forever.
