We get back to the safe house, with a lot of logs, and a lot of memories. I kind of enjoyed being with him throughout the day, when it was the real world, he barely noticed me.

(Flashback)

"Hey," I tell Troy. He responds with a simple, "Hi." He barely notices me, ever. Why can't I get over him? Why can't I see he'll never be into me? Well, I'm being paranoid, and I don't like it. He never talks to me, you know what, he always use to talk to me.

I miss those 6th grade days, I really do. I didn't want them to end, but they did, and I messed up, I tried to take things to the next level, and I don't think he wanted that. I just want this to be better this year, him to notice me, and possibly get closer to him.

(End of flashback)

I start making the posts since it's my "new project". It's more like no one else wants to do it, so it's my duty. Unless we wanted be overrun of course, since no one else had any ideas.

I make the posts and start attaching them to the fence. I have double work, because I have to clear the fence, and put the posts. The zombies nearby can smell me from far away, and my sweat isn't helping my situation either.

The posts themselves are hard enough, because Troy, has no experience with ax's. He cut the posts, and shaped them fair enough, as I saw yesterday. But he had no experience in actually fixing all of the post, not just the front of it.

I go inside and locate him, and immediately say, "What in the world were you thinking? Dull posts, with no sharp end? How is that supposed to protect us in any way?"

He just shrugs and responds, "I was too busy getting distracted by something else,"

I know the one thing that could've been distracting him, me. I was the only one there other than him, so he needed to know who he was complimenting. I reply, "At least I was focused, I had nothing to be distracted with."

He fakes like holding his heart as if he was hurt tremendously, and replies, "Was I not enough eye candy?"

"I didn't know there was eye candy in front of me, the definition of eye candy is being attractive," I reply with a smirk. He clearly didn't get the satisfaction of getting complemented by me.

"Shouldn't you be working on the posts? I'll go outside and fix them for you." He replies.

I go outside without saying anything and direct him to fix all of the posts, and he is working. I head inside once again to grab a water bottle, and I pour some in a glass for both of us.

                                                                   *                      *                      *

I end up finishing, and I step back to admire my work. I did a heck of a job, posts are barely apart,   they look sturdy, and I have small stakes at the end of them, courtesy of Troy of course, and it helps to be able to clear the fence a bit better.

I go inside for dinner with Troy, after our long day, all I want to do is eat, even if he thinks I look like a pig when I eat. He asks, "Clare, what do you want to prepare for dinner?"

"Me? Preparing dinner? Why do you think girls are the only ones that can cook?" I reply.

"Because that's what I grew up knowing, so go make me a sandwich." He says.

"Make your own sandwich, okay? I am going to go enjoy my food, and leave the supplies out, because I am nice."

He gets up and instead of making his sandwich, he grabs my arm and sits me down on a chair, brings the supplies in front of me, and I'm supposed to make the sandwich for him.

I simply get up, and leave. I head upstairs, lock the door, and take off my belt with my weapons. And I get in my "zombie apocalypse shower outfit" which really is just a 1 piece swimsuit. Apparently, we could get overrun at any moment, and I should have some clothes on if we do.

Definition of shower in zombie apocalypse- A loufa with soap and water in a tub with a 1 piece on.

I finish "showering" and head to change into my pjs. I grb a stray book from one of my shelves, and start reading, but my mind is elsewhere, thinking back to what Troy and I did in the meadow, holding hands in the sunset sort of?

I wanted a snack, so I head over to the kitchen, and I am the only one awake, even Troy's room is closed, and I heard he was a late night sleeper. I go to the emergency battery and turn it on to power the fridge, and grab a Horizon Milk, that my mom got from a run today.

I am startled by what's going on outside, and what's going on, is clearly not something anyone should see. Zombies are crowding the fence, and so, I grab a nearby knife, and head out in my pajamas, like the freak I am.

I launch myself and stab each one in the head, and hopefully, didn't get anything on my pajamas, thanks to my quick wardrobe change in a nearby bathroom. But I am not the only one killing the build up, Troy is outside here too, and he clearly bumps into me, knocking me over and falling on top of me.

"Well hello there," he says to me.

I push him off and go back to what I was doing, and he is bothered, but oh well, it's fun to play hard to get. I head inside, and change back into my pajamas, and drift off to a beautiful slumber filled with the meadow dream.
