The kiss from last night still lingered. And it has been on my mind ever since, and it wasn't a good thing.
I was out and about, going on a run like any other day, and I come across a baby shop. I go in, and see if there is any food, or anything useful, but instead, I come out crying. A baby is lying there, moaning as a zombie, with her pacifier in her mouth, and tear marks on the apples of her cheeks. She looked so hopeless.
I couldn't leave her suffering, I had to act fast. I couldn't bring myself to draw a knife into a once innocent child, I had to do it. I looked away, but for that split second, I thought about what in other circumstances could've happened in the future, a baby from Troy and I.
I am quickly thrown out of my thoughts, because the baby is close to me, with hunger in her black eyes. She lies motionless after I am done, and I sob. The world we live in today, I can't bring myself to think of all the newborns, how they never got to live, or experience the world. All because of this.
I want to scream, and shout at the sky, or shout at someone for being so cruel and not think of these reasons, but I can't. I can't risk the safety of this, considering there is food behind the counter. Probably hunters didn't want to harm the baby, but they didn't think of it the way I did. This, was different. Survival of the fittest.
I gather the food, and get out of there, but not before covering the child with a blanket, even if she is dead. I don't feel great about doing this, but it feels better to do it than to leave her bare. That's why I came out crying.
I walk away with a week's worth of good solid food, maybe 2 if we ration it out. And I continue with a full duffel bag, ready to come across another treasure chest full of food, but what I come across, is far from the gold in treasure.
Zombies are roaming the street center square, keeping guard of a middle tower, as if something, or someone couldn't get out. I couldn't dare to peek closer, there was simply too many of them, and I wouldn't stand a chance, so I did it the rebellious way.
I dumped my bag into a nearby trash can, filled it to the brim with trash, and climbed on a short rooftop, and the sight, was astonishing. There, in the capsule, was a single bottle of liquid, that if used, could turn the world back.
But why would they be guarding it? I thought to myself. My thoughts were interrupted by a man speaking through a loud speaker.
"Daily routine. Done. Come back morrow, continue then. No let touch. Ba" Ba? What did ba mean? Bye? Something? I didn't know, and whoever it was, had very bad English. I was astonished, could there be someone so evil as to control zombies? To wipe out human kind? For no one else to know?
The thoughts racing in my head were absolutely random, I had every possibility, but I had to get out of here, it was simply too dangerous for me to stay.
I quickly slid down the rooftop, grabbed my duffel bag, and made my escape, but it wasn't so easy. Zombies were lurking at every corner, with hunger in their dead shot eyes, I couldn't go through some streets, and eventually got lost. I retraced my steps, but I just couldn't find my way, and that's, when I met her.
"Isabella's the name girly, whatcha up to, lost here?" And she quickly pulled out a sword, and put it to my neck, so I elbowed her and grabbed my gun.
"Not so fast, i am not lost thank you very much, I'll be on my way now" And I left. I left her in the middle of nowhere, not knowing who she was, or what she wanted. I guess you could say I was cruel, but hey, the girl put a knife to my neck, what was I supposed to do, invite her for tea?
I heard screams behind me as i trudged on, and decided it was best to keep going. Seeing another person killed, I couldn't bear it. I wasn't fit for this world, but apparently, I was enough to stay alive.

When I got to the safe house, everything was in complete and utter disaster. Pots and pans were thrown, food was scattered, but not opened, and I found a limp Rose, and a Troy pulling his hair out, in frustration.
"I'm home," I say cheerfully, lightening the mood.
"About time, we were going to go looking for you, I accidentally got angry and Rose is unconscious, and Zack went out to pee." Troy says, emotionless.
"How the hell, are you so calm that she's unconscious!?" I run to Rose's side, and feel her pulse. It's regular, as if she's in a deep slumber, and no one can wake her.
Well good for her, I supposed. I got a pan and put the cold to her forehead, in effort to wake the sleeping girl. At the time, Zack had just came in, and he was quite astonished to what he saw, me caring for Rose.
He said nothing about it, but Rose started raising her head, and opening her eyes. I hugged her.
"Rose you gave me such a scare, what happened? Are you okay? Do you feel lightheaded in anyway?" I said.
"Yes Yes i am fine, I just passed out, thanks to that doofus over there, he tried to kiss me and I fainted." says Rose. I can't help but burst out in laughter.
As my laughter subsides, I look over to Troy. He seems solemn and lonely, so I head over, still hurling in laughter.
"What's up?" I say.
"I have something to tell you Clare..."
"Which is?"
"Are you ready for a relationship, with me...? As in dating...and loving me...those 3 words that I'm waiting for..." he says. But I know the answer.
"Yes I am ready Troy. The 3 words, are what I feel, I love you. I was just too scared to admit it before...I couldn't say it first, or after you said it, so it feels right now." I say.
He kisses me, and the butterflies in my stomach rise again. But I am taken aback by what he does, he breaks off the kiss, and takes off his shirt. I am motionless and look away. He throws his head back in laughter.
"I knew I'd get you with that one, your face was priceless." He says.
"You scared the living daylights out of me, I can't believe you just did that." I say, and with that, I stand up and leave to go to my sleeping bag. And he follows of course, so I let him hold me, and I drift to sleep.
