Chapter Seven: Secrets

Ciel POV

Freckles was dragging me to the showers, I haven't seen Rosie at all yet today. 'maybe she's at the showers?' When we got there my mouth hung wide open. It was public?! In the middle of winter?!?! Freckles clearly saw my suprise.

"Don't ye worry about the showers, it'll be fine. I'll help ye out! Let me wash your back for ye." I tried to struggle against him, but we fell over and he saw the mark. A wave of emotion came over me and I took off running. 'I can't believe he did that.'

Reader POV

I saw Ciel running past me and I took chase. What happened? I found him sitting behind a tent crying. I walked up to him and hugged him. He cried into my shoulder as I gently rocked him back and forth. Once he finally stopped crying, I looked at his face.

His eye was slightly puffy from crying, and he looked up begging for comfort. "What happened Ciel?" "Fr-freckles dragged me t-to the showers. Th-then we fell o-over and h-he saw..." He fell silent. I knew what he meant. "The mark?" "Y-you saw it-" "Last night? Yes, I did." Ciel was silent for a while.

Finally he spoke. "Do you need me to explain what it is to you?" "No, I already know what it is." He looked very confused. "How do you-" I put my finger to his lips. "That is a secret how I know." I dropped my finger and he immediately started talking again. "Why can't you tell me?" "Because I want to forget what happened long ago, that's the past. All I need to focus on is the present and the future." He smiled at me. "Your attitude about life is one of my favorite things about you." I smiled back and kissed him on the lips. I felt Sebastian's presence coming, "Sebastian is coming, I'll let you two alone for now. I'll see you later Ciel." I kissed him again, and left to help out at the circus. Tonight was a big night, and people needed all the help they could get.

~Much later that night~

I weaved through the tents, patrolling the circus. Lately, Joker has been feeling very antsy and has asked for me to watch over everything at night. I didn't mind it, I didn't have to sleep anyways.

I saw Ciel walking away from the first-tier tents. 'what was he doing over here?' I snuck over and crept up from behind. Out of nowhere I hugged him from behind. "Wha!!!" I shushed him and giggled. "What are you doing here Ciel?" "I got lost." I could tell he was lying. "You're lying." "Eh? No I'm not." "You know I can tell when you're lying."

He sighed. "Fine. I was searching the tents to see if there was anything on the child case." I held in my breath. 'Oh no.' "And did you find anything?" "I believe so, I've already sent Sebastian to look up on it." I sighed. "I'm sure it's nothing Ciel." "I sure hope so..."

We stayed there silent for a little while until he spoke. "What were you doing?" "Joker asked me to patrol The circus tonight, he's been feeling like he's being watched and he's getting worried." Ciel nodded. "When will you be done?" "Until Joker wakes up tomorrow." "That's a long time! What about sleeping?" "I'm not a human, remember? I don't need sleep." "Oh yeah, I forgot." He chuckled. "You're so human I keep forgetting." I giggled. "That's a good thing. Are you tired?" "Not very." "Would you like to go to the lake with me?" "What about patrolling?" "Sebastian is here, I'm sure nothing bad will happen." He nodded and he took my hand in his as we walked through the forest to the lake.

Ciel P.O.V.:

The full moon slightly chipped shined it's cold bright light down on us as we layed down on the grass looking up at the twinkling stars. I heard a light humming and looked to my left to see Rosie with her eyes closed humming a song. "What are you humming?" She opened her eyes and looked at me. "A song that I learned a long time ago." "Will you sing it to me?" She gently smiled. "Of course."

I snuggled into her and yawned. She giggled and stroked my head. "Tired?" I nodded and yawned again. I didn't realize that she was carrying me until she walked into my tent and set me down on my bed. She kissed my forehead and tucked me in. "Goodnight Ciel." Then she quietly slipped out of the tent to go back patrolling.
