Ciel POV
Me and Sebastian walked out of the tent. "Black." "Yes?" "We need to talk privately for a moment." "Yes my Lord." Sebastian then took me into a clearing in the nearby forest and I sighed as I sat on a rock. "What is it my Lord?" "That girl...I can't figure her out." "Mhm, same here." "Can you get any feeling, an aura? Is she a demon?" "She feels like a human, but she has a dark aura around her." "Dark aura?" "It's hard to explain young master." I sighed and looked up at the sky. "Let's just get out of here as soon as we can."
An Hour Later
Reader POV
I ran around the circus trying to find Smile and Black. Honestly, something was off about them and their story. Why would Black need gloves? Why does Smile need an eyepatch? And Black gives me a bad feeling... I saw Smile walking out of a tent and I ran over. "Smile!!! I finished ye outfit!!!" He turned around with a suprised look on his face, and then smiled. Ugh, I hated that smile. That stupid fake smile. That's all I ever saw him wear on his face, that or a straight face. I frowned slightly and grabbed his arm and started to drag him to my tent. I'll not only have to give him his outfit and make-up, I'll have to give him a lesson on acting.
"H-hey!" He stumbled out. I pushed/threw him into my tent and then made sure no one was around. Then I looked him straight in the face. He looked suprised and scared. "I don't know how they can't tell that ye are faking that smile. It's so obvious! But no, they think it's genuine, and then they literally call you "Smile". So not only am I going to have to give ye an outfit and make-up, I'm going to teach ye how to become a better actor so that if ye perform in the circus publicly, ye won't ruin it for all the performers." My voice was stern, and a much lower tone. I sneered slightly because I was very annoyed. I waited for him to answer.
Ciel POV
'what just happened??? I thought she was all happy Lolita girl? Now she's yelling at me, and how can she tell I had a fake smile? This girl is creeping me out slightly...' "I...uh..." I didn't know what to say to her. Here's this tiny girl who looks like she's eight yelling in my face how I need to become a better actor so that I don't ruin this stupid circus. I felt like I should be mad at her, but then again I felt bad for her.
I've overheard almost every single circus performer here talk bad about her, it appears the only one who actually cares about her is Joker. But here she is trying to fix things so the circus doesn't get ruined, in the sake of everyone else. "I-I am deeply sorry miss, I didn't mean to make you mad." 'damnit, why do I keep stuttering?'
She just sighed and sat down on the bed next to me. She didn't look mad anymore, just sad. I could feel my heart breaking a little bit, it was like looking at a dog getting tortured. She looked me in the eye and it looked like she was trying to read my thoughts. I tried to do the same to her, but I couldn't. I usually could do it to anyone, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't do it.
"Smile?" "Y-yeah?" "Why are ye so sad? Even though ye try to put on a smile, all I can read in your eyes is sadness and anger." I looked at the ground and played with my feet. "I didn't I have a good childhood." I managed to mumble out. "And ye don't want to make others sad, so ye fake a smile so they're happy, because ye want them to be happy even though ye are not." My head shot up and I looked at her. "H-how did you-" She put a finger to my lips. "I do the same thing. Even though every person in this circus otherwise than big brotha' hates me, I still put on a smile so they can be happier. I know ye will grow to hate me too, but just know that if ye need anything, ye can talk to me." I was stunned. She already knew, and she was convinced I was going to end up that way too.
I shook my head. "I won't grow to hate you. How can I hate someone that tries to help the people who hate her? Even though you know, you try your hardest to make them happy. I can't, and I won't, hate someone like that." Then she started crying. "Did I say something wrong?" She sniffled and shook her head. "No, that was the nicest thing I have had anyone tell me in my entire life. For the thirteen years I've been alive, no one was said something as kind as ye just did." Then she out of nowhere hugged me. "Thank you Smile, ye really are an angel." She whispered. I didn't know what to say, so instead I just hugged her back.
