It Doesn't Matter (P)(SS)(removed fandom/old)

This is an AU I made, it's about Virgil being shot and killed, Roman goes into a short state of depression, then heads off to war to forget everything that happened. He becomes a general, is shot in the eye and he survives.

"Sir!" Jeremiah hurried after the prince-no, general-, as it was quite difficult to keep up with the tall man.
"Yes, Jeremiah?" Roman asked as he pushed the large, oak doors open and stepped into his office. He knew what Jeremiah would ask.
"If you don't mind me asking, erm, what.. what was you past life like? What did you do before you came here and became a general?"
Roman sighed, sitting at his desk. "Sit down, this might take some time." Jeremiah obeyed, sitting in a chair across from him.
~Flashback~
"Virgil! Virgil, don't leave me! Please, I love you, I-I can't lose you!" Roman cried, holding the shorter male close to his chest.
"I-I'm sorry, Roman..I'm so sorry, I love you more than anything.." Virgil's voice was barely a whisper. Tears dripped down Roman's cheeks.
"Roman! Roman, what happened?" Logan yelled, he was somewhere behind him, maybe close, maybe far. But Roman blocked everyone else out. His world, the reason he was happy was dying in his arms.
Virgil went limp in his arms. He was gone.

"Roman?" Patton knocked the door lightly. He could hear Roman crying and sniffling, and he knew how upset he was.
"What do you want?" He asked, his voice quiet.
"It's been a week, please come back out..."
Roman sighed, wiping the tears from his face. He got up and opened the door. Patton gasped at the state he was in. His hair was disheveled, his cheeks and eyes were red and puffy from crying. Patton opened his arms wide, and Roman wrapped his arms around his neck, sobbing into his shoulder.
"It'll be okay... everything will be okay.."
~Flashback over~
"Sir, I'm... I'm so sorry that you lost him." Jeremiah said, not sure what else to say.
"It's... it's alright, Jeremiah. It doesn't matter." Roman said, turning towards the window so the younger male couldn't see the tears running down his cheeks.
