Penelope's P.O.V.

Three years later...

"Pen, we got to get to breakfast." Said a familiar voice as someone shook me awake. "C'mon Penny."

"I don't want to. I want to sleep." I moaned, rolling over, hearing the boy sigh.

"Don't make me carry you," he said, "also, I have a surprise for you."

I sat upright in bed, looking at him with wide, excited eyes. "What is it?" I asked.

"That's a secret."

"I hate secrets." Suddenly I remembered something. "Did you find Maya?" His expression said all. He hadn't. I suddenly felt crestfallen. I missed my sister so much. Whenever I would have a nightmare, Maya was always there. Not that Jason didn't do the same. When I first arrived at camp, I had to get a tattoo on my arm, Jason had been there for her when I got it. It hurt. A lot.

"Look, get ready for breakfast and I'll get your surprise ready." Jason said, kissing my forehead and walking out of the room.

Jason's so nice, I thought, He treats me better than anyone else in camp. Well, except Reyna, of course. I slid out of bed and was surprised to see a pair of clean clothes on the end of my bed. Jason. I smiled, grabbed the clothes and walked to the bathrooms to get changed. I hummed as I changed from my night clothes to the clothes that had been laid on my bed. Then I walked outside into the bright, sunny morning. I turned and began walking towards the battle arena. When I got there, I saw Jason and Reyna talking. As I went closer, I could hear their conversation.

"Jason," Reyna said, "you know you can't take her with you to battle Krios."

"I know," Jason replied, "I'm just going to give her something so she can fight when she's in trouble." He lifted up a small box that was wrapped in wrapping paper with princesses on it. "I know I can't protect her all the time but, with a little practice, she can protect herself."

"Hi, Reyna!" I said hugging her around the waist, then looked at Jason. "So..?" I looked at the box. It was pretty small but, knowing him, this had to be a big surprise.

"Hey, Penelope." She said, hugging me back. "Well, I got to go and get things ready. So, you better hurry up Jason or we'll leave you behind."

Jason nodded as she walked away. "Now," he said, "it may not be much but, I had the Vulcan kids make this just for you." He handed me the boxed. "Happy birthday, Pen."

I smiled, and opened the present carefully, careful not to tear the paper. "I actually forgot it was my birthday." I admitted, finally opening the box and pulling out a golden necklace

"It's magic. Say these words, 'Monile pugione' ."

I repeated his words and the necklace turned into a dagger.

"Now, 'Et pugionem necklace' ."

I did the same thing at it returned to the necklace.

" 'Orbis est gladio' ."

I copied him. It now changed into a sword.

" 'Gladius ad monilia' ."

The sword changed into the necklace. "Jason, you went to all this trouble for me?" I asked him. He nodded.

He knelt down infront of me, putting the necklace around my neck and fastening it. "I may not always be around to protect you, Penny. That's why I had this made. Just promise me one thing."

"What is it?"

"Never take it off."

I looked at him, slightly confused. "Never?"

"Never."

I nodded, wondering why I should never take it off. Jason stood up as an older kid can running. She looked out of breath, as if she ran all the way from the camp gate.

"We're ready to leave, Praetor." She told Jason. He nodded and rubbed my head.

"When I get back, We're going to make you a cake, okay?"

"Okay!" I said as he and the girl ran to the gate. "Monile pugione." I smiled as it changed into the dagger. This is so cool.
