Penelope's P.O.V.
JASON AND THE REDHEAD, WHO INTRODUCED herself as Rachel, put Piper on the couch.
"Jason," I said. "Sh-she is going to be okay, right?" He looked at me and I could tell that he had no idea if she was going to be okay. "I mean, she is going to be alright, right?" Chiron rubbed my head gently.
"Go on outside. We'll be awhile," Chiron said. "Look around camp." I nodded numbly and walked out the door.
I walked in the direction of the cabins. As I walked I noticed that everyone here had on bead necklaces. The necklaces, I figured, were for surviving a whole year. I kept walking and found myself at the lava wall. I looked at it up and down. It seemed that there were only a few that dared to climb it and one of them was a girl wearing blood red armor. She had her hair up in a ponytail and her expression was focused. Lava spewed from the top and - if she hadn't moved - she would be fried to a crisp. She got to the top and smiled. After sometime, she was back on the ground.
She looked over at me and I realized that I had been staring. The girl walked over and kneeled down next to me. "Pen," She whispered softly. "Is that really you?"
I looked up and saw her eyes. "Maya?"
"Pen, please, don't call me that. Call me Clarisse." She told me as she hugged me tightly. "I didn't realize it was you who was with those kids when the chariot crash-landed. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"What happened three years ago? Do you remember?"
I stood there trying to remember, but my head started to throb. "I'm sorry, I don't remember."
Maya - no, Clarisse - sighed, "When we were at the NJSL, we were attacked. We were separated. You were dragged out of the stadium with the other people and I was left behind. I searched and searched for you. I thought... I thought it got you." Her voice was barely audible and I saw tears streaming down her face. "I really did..."
I reached over and wiped her face. "It's okay to cry, it shows you're human." I said. "Even the gods cry sometimes." She smiled, stood, and ruffled my hair.
"I missed you." Clarisse said simply.
"I missed you, too."
