CHAPTER 3
The eyes came closer to the edge of the drain, the now lit street lights revealed a snow white face, bright blue eyes, and a nest of messy orange hair. His white face had red streaks flowing from his big soft looking lips, up too his cheek bones, cutting through his eye lids and reaching up past his eyebrows. He had a bright red nose and dark bags around his eyes. Around his collar laid a tattered old frilly blouse with brown stains.
"Don't talk much huh?" He questioned.
I just stared back at this man, still sitting down on the road from where I had fallen. A wave of anxiety flew over me as I remembered that he knew my name. I threw myself to my feet, wincing as I stomped over to the drain.
"What are you doing in that storm drain? If you hadn't noticed there's a storm?! And how do you know my name??" I demanded, impatiently tapping my foot on the ground.
"Oh, well I know everyone around here" He chuckled, with a sinister smile.
"And the storm blew me away, it blew the whole circus away, and landed, right...down...here" He said pausing between the last three words, pointing his gloved index finger downwards.
I screwed my eyebrows and lifted my hand above my eyes, protecting them from the rain so I could see him better.
"I've known everyone who's come and gone in this town for a long time" He said with a chuckle.
As I continued to stare, I couldn't help but notice that he has a pair of bucky front teeth, whenever he smiles, every time he spoke, there they were. Something about his appearance made me shiver, the clown like makeup and the stupid high pitched voice he spoke in, yet there was something about his big blue eyes that almost made me feel at ease despite everything else.
"How do you know my name though? Knowing the town doesn't explain how you know me as a person?" I question once again.
"I know something about you that no one else does, not even you" He said in a serious tone.
His right eye suddenly drifting off to the side as he starred in two different directions. I took a deep breath in, rubbing my hands up my arms, I shivered as my wet jeans and shirt clung to my cold skin. I turned around to look at my front door.
"Did you ever know what truly happened to your parents?" He asked.
I turned my attention back to the Clown, as I stepped away from the drain starring at him as my heart began racing once again. I glared at him not once taking my eyes off of him as I walked step by step back to my house. He starred back at me with a seedy smile, leaving me to run toward my door without bothering to look back.
*BANG!*
"Ahhhhhh" I screamed as I hear the sound of a popping balloon.
I turned back around to see the balloon and the weirdo dressed like an outdated clown, was gone. I slammed the door hard as I locked it and closed the curtains, the feeling of goosebumps ran down my neck and down the back of my legs.
I shivered the creepy feelings off as I walked into the lounge room, where I heard the TV playing as I walked in.
"You can have so much fun down in the Sewers, we all float down here." An advert chanted.
I flicked it off and turned on the cooking channel just assuming it was another one of those stupid 'keep your kids safe' curfew ads.
I walked into the kitchen, flicking on every light in the house, that whole experience had me spooked. I walked to the fridge still dripping, and looked to the front door noticing the mess I had made upon entering the house, slamming my hands on my hips. I leant back on the worktop and noticed a bruise on my tail bone.
"Ouch!" I cried as I reached for the area.
"From slipping over out on the road no doubt" I muttered.
I turned back to the fridge grabbing some ingredients to make myself some food. Done in the kitchen, with a sandwich now in my hand I walked to the stairs where my Aunt suddenly walked in.
"Watch out for the wet" I warned, placing my sandwich down to clear up the mess.
"Hey there Y/N, how's my favorite girl in the world?" My Aunt Lucy looked at me as I dripped wet.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't come get you sweety but work kept me in late" She apologised still looking at my wet appearance.
I walked over and kissed her cheek.
"It's fine, I totally understand" I said smiling.
"I'm going to go to my room, I love you" I said as I walked up the stairs beginning to eat my sandwich.
"Okay babe, I'll call you when dinners done!" She yelled up the stairs.
As I walked up the stairs, I noticed my hands still shaking from the previous incident. I wondered, what was that guy doing down there, and how does he know who I am? And what did he mean, how could he know anything about my parents?
