CHAPTER 4
I laid in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. I look over at my alarm clock, and it reads eleven o'one pm. It's still raining outside, even heavier then before, the sound of golf ball sized rain drops, landing on my window didn't exactly help.
This time when I roll over on my bed, my attention is caught by the door on the other side of the room, next to it lays my bathroom. I l slowly shut my eyes starring at the door, slowly beginning to drift off, when an unnerving sound of dripping began to echo from the bathroom. My eyes open wide, staring at at the door, slightly opened. I see inside, the bulb needs replacing, it flickers constantly but never dies?
"Ugh..." I moaned, rolling out of bed.
The walk over to the door felt like forever. I don't know if it was from being tired or if I was on a trip, but the walls felt enlongated like a tunnel. I finally made it to the bathroom, pushing through the door looking at the dripping tap.
"This is what kept me from falling asleep?" I groan at the metal pipe.
I waddled over and took the tap into my hand and turned it clockwise until it burnt my palm from twisting. I whined at the sensation, clenching my fist, using my other hand to support it. At least the tap had stopped dripping now.
Whilst I was already in there, I looked up from the tap and into the mirror. Gazing up close on my face, I notice my hair is frizzing like crazy from drying off. I stroke my fingers through my H/C hair, to find a big pimple in my hairline. I freeze for a moment from the pain and pulled a pretty stupid face.
"Ooowwwww!"
It wasn't an exaggeration, it really killed. I huffed, blowing a piece of hair out of my face, bending down to grab my hair brush, when suddenly the bathroom light began to flicker like the lightning storm outside. The light really started to spaz as I leant back up, with my hairbrush now in hand. I stood still as I suddenly noticed something dark in the corner of my eye. I turned to look at my window where a shadow casted across my bedroom floor, the moonlight also creating a large rectangle of light.
This particular window, faced out onto the street, where that clown had been hiding in the drain. My heart began to pound as I noticed that my window had been opened, stretched apart as far it could, the curtains blew as the cold air blasted into my room. The only thing illuminating my room besides the moonlight was the lamp on my bed side table.
I place my hairbrush back down on the sink, and stepped back from the basin and slowly approached the window, trekking my way through my dark room.
I cautiously approached, avoiding the curtains flapping about in the wind. As I grabbed the curtain and pulled it to the side, my own reflection starred back at me from the window to the left.
"Eekk!" I screeched.
My arms flew up and above my head, making for a pretty hopeless and defenceless position. I began to laugh at myself then wiped my tired eyes as I shook my head.
"God I am seriously skittish tonight" I giggled.
"It's because of that stupid clown guy." I said to myself.
I looked back at my curtains, still blowing around from the cold wind outside.
"Ugh... I just need to get some sleep that's all. He was just a crackhead, he had no idea what he was talking about" I repeated to myself.
I closed the windows and grabbed the curtain, holding either side gently and readied to shut the curtains when I suddenly paused, as I looked out of the window, my whole body shivered.
"Oh my god" My heart beat increased crazily, my palms literally began to sweat.
"There's another bastard balloon down there!!" I yelled under my breath, anxiety consuming me.
His big blue eyes caught mine once again, even the bloody street light was flickering just for effect. I could only just see his pale white face peeping out from the drain, hoping and wishing I couldn't, praying that I was just hallucinating. But no, he was there, starring up at me.
He still stood in the drain this time waving his white gloved hand gently, pushing through the gap of the drain. I threw the curtains across eachother and threw myself into my bed, hiding under the sheets like a child.
After about five minutes of hyperventilating, I began to steady my breathing, when I was suddenly interrupted by the crack of a lightening bolt.
*CRACK BANG!*
I shivered at the loud bang and began to pull the sheets down slowly and a little over cautiously. I looked at my window as the thunder cracked and the lighting flashed. A big lightning bolt struck just outside my window, lighting up my room followed by the loud rumble of thunder. I looked back over to the curtain which now hid the outline of what looked like a man, but it was huge. My heart sunk once more at this sight, my sheets just covering up my chin, I shivered every time thunder rumbled.
The figure flickered in the light caused by the storm, not moving at all before it suddenly disappeared. I looked straight to the end of my bed, lightening still crashing causing a light show in my room when suddenly, he was there. Standing dauntingly, almost like a lamp post, he leaned over my bed, smiling menacingly. With each burst of light the closer and closer he appeared. I hid under my covers hoping it would do something, when I hesitantly pulled the blanket down from my face, he was gone once again.
*CRASH!*
The lightning smashed, in another burst of light, and as quick as the light flashed, he was over the top of me, fingers wrapped around my throat.
