CHAPTER 19
I found myself back in the main chamber of the sewer once again.
The small child's arm still sat on the floor slowly decaying away, the smell burning my nostrils as I walked past it. I gagged as I stood in the middle of the room, trying to work out where Pennywise had gone.
There were several blocked tunnels, some gated off and others blocked with tree debris and garbage, several of them having no way of being passed entirely.
I looked across the room at a door that looked like the main entrance to the room I was in, blocked off by a large metal door. I headed towards the door only to see a trail of blood leading toward it. As I approached I could see that the stains lead beneath it, leading me to assume that it had been opened and closed. I leant my head against the cold door, as I gently knocked on it, trying to tell how thick it was when I heard the sound of the child screaming from the other side. My heart began racing again, I started frantically looking for any form of entry, the louder the child became, the more I began to panic. I knew what Pennywise wanted, and I had to stop him before it was too late.
I started banging on the door, yelling to him hoping it would make him stop, hearing nothing excepting the child's cries for help. I stepped away from the door in frustration, and began searching the surrounding area for other ways in. Finding a small drain, just next to the metal drain cover, big enough to allow a person of my size to squeeze through.
I slid down onto my knees and started kicking the little gate in until it popped off it's hinges, jumping down on my hands and knees, I squeezed through, crawling my way through to the other segment of the sewer.
On the other side the room was wide, filled with entries to deeper parts of the Sewers, in the centre there laid a pile that turned into a tower as I looked up at it. It was formed from old clothes, toys and other random junk. But at the centre of the tower, a crate or some sort of a container rested, buried beneath all of the debris. I took a step closer towards it, squinting at it trying to make out the picture on its side. I stood on a pile of junk to get a closer enough look, on it read 'Pennywise the Dancing clown', with a picture of a sinister looking clowns face on it.
I took a step backward looking further up the tower, it began to narrow as it got further to the top, and as it reached further, a monitor of children hung down from the ceiling, rotating this great hunkis. I starred up at them in horror. There would have easily been a hundred of them, levitating, and floating around the room, circling the tower of junk.
I pulled myself completely off and away from the scrap pile, covering my mouth in horror.
"Who could do such a thing...?" I said anxiously.
I stumbled away toward the wall of the room, as tears began to form in my eyes, interrupted suddenly by the child's scream, much clearer and closer than before. I ran in the direction of the sound, continuing to follow it. It became louder and louder the further I jogged past the tower, almost as if it were coming from behind it.
I stopped as I stood at a distance, the screams were close, like they were in front of me. I hid behind part of the junk pile, and peaked my head around the corner, only to see Pennywise.
He still had a tight hold of the child in his arm, squatting down on his knees, slowly pulling the child up to face him directly. The small boy panted obscenely as he starred into the monsters invading eyes.
"Tasty, tasty beautiful fear" He chanted, jingling as he sung.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh help me!!!" The boy screamed.
I moved in a bit more, knocking something off the pile causing his attention to instantly spin in my direction. I froze momentarily, holding my breath, hoping he hadn't spotted me. It was quite for a moment, so I turned around, pushing myself further into the junk heap, making even more noise than before. I cringed knowing that my position was completely blown.
He suddenly stood up from his frog like position, starring over his shoulder, in my direction like an owl. He stood to his feet, his figure towering over the young boy who was still in his grip. He began to walk in my direction, as he dragged him along, his bells jingling and his feet splashing through the water, drool now dripping from his lip.
"Please... p-please let me go, please" The little boy begged.
"I want my mummy...." He cried.
Pennywise's smile just grew, as it stretched up his face, which was filled with his dagger like teeth. He chuckled under his breath, as claws began to grow from the ends of his fingers, taking in a deep breath he then said aloud;
"I can smell you!" He hissed.
"Fear... you reek of it".
His footsteps became more heavy, and his breathing sounded more like a snoring hound. He wrapped his claws around a pole, that stood just before me. His tallon like fingers wrapping around the pole like a python. He pulled himself around the corner, to stand right before me, growling, and dribbling. He growled at the sight of me, his mouth wide open, the child now struggling even more to break free from his grip.
I just stood looking up at him, as he towered above me, finally letting the child go. He sat there momentarily still shocked at his situation, I looked at him and shooed him away with my hand. The child slipped as he scurried away in the direction from whence he was brought. My attention was bought back to his monstrous face. I could see the hunger for death in his eyes as he starred back at me.
