Chapter 8

I woke up to a knock on my door. I slowly got up and walked over to my door and opened it. My mom was standing on the other side and gave me a half smile.

"Hey Chloe. Sorry for waking you up. I need to fly over to Canada. And I will only be there for a week. I'm sorry. I know I should have told you sooner it's just that I was busy and you were busy. I hardly got to see you."

"Mom, It's fine. The only thing is. Will you be fine? By yourself?" I asked. I felt worried about my mom going alone. She isn't that old so I honestly don't know why I am so worried. Maybe it's because she's the only family that I have.

"Yes, I'll be fine. I promise. I need to hurry up and head there. My work needs me there now." 

"Okay mom. I love you. Just please be careful."

"I will." She hugged me tightly and kissed me on the cheek. She then walked away leaving me behind. I don't know how I feel about my mom leaving. I watched her walk out of the house hopping in her uber and taking off. Home alone. I sighed as I walked over to get ready. I didn't want to sleep here by myself. What was I going to do? I mean I do have Mikey and the rest. 

As I finished getting ready for the day I grabbed my phone and camera. I started to walk down the stairs and I heard something fall in my room. I stopped and turned around. I slowly walked up and into my room. My clothes were all over the floor and my bed was messed up.

"What the hell happened?" I asked quietly to myself. It was a mess. When I left my room it was clean and not even 5 seconds later it got destroyed. Someone must have been messing with me. I looked around my room and bathroom and I didn't see anyone. I didn't like this. Not one single bit. I began picking up my clothes and folding them. As I finished picking up the mess I finally went downstairs. I was going to drive to Mikey's place because I really wanted to talk to someone.

I knocked on Mikey's door and seconds later the door opened. I saw a lady that must've been his mom. 

"Yes?" She asked. 

"Hey. Do you know where Mikey is? I'm his friend." She turned around and called for Mikey.

"He'll be here shortly. What's your name?" She let me in and I waited by the door.

"Chloe. Mikey and I met like a couple of days ago."

"Nice to meet you Chloe." Just then I saw Mikey come out of his room. He smiled at me. He gave me a quick hug and backed up.

"Hey Chloe. What are you doing here?" 

"Just thought I could stop by. Ya know. I got nothing to do. My mom actually just left on a plane to go to Canada for work. And lately my house has been acting strange. Like I'm hearing weird stuff. So I didn't want to be in my house."

"Dude it sounds like your house is haunted."

"What did I do?"

"When did it start acting weird?"

"Well I mean I don't remember."

"It could have been because of us going to Clinton Road."

"And this is probably why I haven't been or heard of that place before."

"My house is acting a bit strange as well." Just then someone came barging through the front door. I looked over and seen Jake holding something behind his back. What was behind his back? 

"YOUR FAVORITE SON IS HERE!" Jake yelled as he looks over at Mikey's mom. She laughed as she continues to watch TV. Jake looked at Mikey then at me. Welp, this was awkward.
