I stood up from my seat while my father was in the middle of speaking.

"So you're telling me that this is all your fault?!" I growled, emphasising your.

"Listen to us Demetrius." My mother began.

"No, I don't want to hear anything else." I walked out of the room and into the back with clenched fists. I didn't know where I was going but I was so enraged that I just needed to leave the room. Whiley stayed behind, she probably knew all of that anyway.

The room had a bed with one little lamp on the right hand side. I took a step inside and felt something under my foot, I looked down only to see a folder and paper scattered around the room. The walls were plain with holes in the wall, I shivered as the cold breeze brushed passed me making my hairs stand.

I took a seat on the bed and closed my eyes for a second processing what had happened, so much had happened.

I heard a knock and a little whisper. I sighed and held my eyes closed for a second longer with annoyance, my moment of peace ruined. I sat up to see a slim figure standing in the doorway with a comforting but worried smile on their face. She took a seat next to me and began to continue the conversation I was having with my parents.

"They made a mistake. They never meant for all this to happen. We just have to focus on how we're going to get through this." She put her hand on mine to comfort me. I pulled away and stood up.

"Yeah and how do you suppose we do that?" I asked sarcastically.

She took a step closer to me, as though she was going to tell me a secret.
"Your parents found a way that they can kill them." I could see the hope in her eyes. It pained me to even think about saying no to her.

"How?" I questioned.

"I think your parents would explain it better." She smiled and walked out the room back to my parents. I followed behind her, still mad at my parents for making a mistake as huge as this.

"How do you kill them?" I asked breaking the silence.

"When your father and I were looking at the samples from some of them we noticed that they had an extra gene or DNA strand that we don't, some how the radiation affected their body so much that extra genes and DNA was formed. We found a way to destroy these which should kill the rest of the body."

I nodded my head as if I had any idea what they were talking about.

"How are you going to destroy that?" I asked hoping they would simplify the answer.

"We're working on a theory but we don't have anything solid yet." My mother looked through a stethoscope studying the samples once again. My father just stared into thin air with his hand on his chin, thinking.
I heard a few mumbles coming from outside the room, probably the Roamers guarding the door. I took a few steps around the room studying the research, this must have taken years. That's when it hit me, the reason my parents were taken all those years ago was for this! They wanted my parents to research them. For a cure maybe? Did they want to be normal again?

I felt someone gently grab my hand, taking me out of my thoughts. I looked back to put a face to the hand, it was Whiley. She smiled again before pulling me closer.

"Thank you." A smile grew on my face, I couldn't help it. We hugged for a few seconds until she pulled away making me frown slightly, it was a nice moment.  She smiled again as she walked away.

I dozed around for a few more minutes still bored out of my mind. I wasn't used to just sitting around doing nothing, for so long I've had to find my own food and survive. I walked over to my mother who was still looking through the stethoscope. She lifted her head to write a few notes, then she noticed me. She pushed the stethoscope towards me gesturing for me to have a look.
"Want to see?" She asked.

Eagerly I took a seat and looked through, it was the strangest thing I'd ever seen.

"You see those things moving?" My mother asked me.

"Yes" I nodded my head.

"They're cells" my father finished off my mother's sentence.

"Cells?" I repeated with a confused expression.

My mother chuckled slightly before pulling a sad expression.
"I only wish we could have taught you everything." She gave a tight lipped smile and planted a kiss on my head. Her attention then focused on my father as he began to speak.

"Yes, if only but those monsters had to take us away." He shook his head and looked down as he relived that memory.

"Why did they take you?" I blurted out, the question had been playing on my mind for so long I needed to know the answer!

My mother knelt down next to me putting her hand on mine. It was like she couldn't even look at me, the amount of shame on her face was blinding.
"They found out what we did, they knew we were responsible."

Father was shaking his head and began to finish my mother's sentence.

"They thought we would somehow be able to reverse the affects, or be able to change them back."

Mother began to speak again. "Theres so much we haven't told you." She cupped the side of my face with her hand. "We love you." She smiled taking a glance at my father.
I smiled back and replied with "I love you too."

I looked at them with a serious expression on my face and they mirrored it. "What can I do to help?" I asked. I didn't want to just sit around, I felt like I had to help some how.

"There is one way." He looked up at my mother and back at me with a worried face. "You need to get executed."
