I had no idea what to say, or do. I was out of breath and my legs hurt. But they had caught me and they were going to murder me in this very alley.
There was no point in running, or fighting, because I was terrible in both. I just stood there, fear evident in my features.
"Come here, Angel," said the one in the center in a sickly sweet tone. "And we'll show you what happens to people who peep and pry."
I shook my head. Stupid decision, really.
The man holding the gun raised his eyebrows in amusement, looked at his cronies and beckoned to me.
Before I knew what was happening, my arms were behind by back, held in an iron grip by two of them and I was being pushed towards the gang leader. I was too tired to struggle, which seemed to surprise my captors. They probably expected me to kick and punch. But that wouldn't hurt them.
The leader slowly lowered his gun as we neared him and I saw my book under his arm, which was covered in tattoos. But I kept my head down, trying to stop the tears from escaping my eyes.
"Look at me, Angel," he ordered.
I shook my head again, more frantically.
His hand cupped my chin, forcing me to gaze up at him and I was surprised at his handsomeness. He didn't look much older than me. He had dark curly hair which was messy and full heart-shaped lips, with a prominent jawline. And his eyes, they were the purest, greenest eyes I'd ever seen, which were framed by long eyelashes. I couldn't deny his beauty.
He was intently staring at me too and I felt like he was planning on the best way to get rid of me.
"Harry, mate, just get this over with, would you?" said one my captors impatiently.
Harry. Harry. Harry.
Harry glared at him. "Why don't you go give my name to the police as well? Idiot!" He then looked down at me. "Now I definitely can't set you free."
"No, no, please let me go," I begged, beginning to struggle against the other guys' grip. "Please leave me," I whispered, tears falling down my cheeks.
"Why?" asked Harry. "So you can run off and tell the police?"
"I won't tell," I said desperately. "I won't tell anyone about this, if you'll let me go. Please, I promise!"
"Shut up," said my other captor, shaking me roughly. "We can't let you go now."
"Why don't you let me deal with this?" said Harry calmly. He leaned down towards me and I trembled as he pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"What's your name, Angel?" he asked huskily.
"Al-Alison," I stuttered. My heart was beating out of control and my palms became sweaty, not just because of fear, but also because of how close Harry was standing. His torso lightly pressed against mine, his hair tickling my cheek as I felt his hot breath on my skin.
Harry smiled down at me, a lovely, crooked smile. "Such a pretty name for a beautiful girl like you," he said softly.
As he said those words, he delicately ran his fingers over my arms, causing goosebumps to rise on them. I tried to ignore the sparks in my body that were ignited by his touch. I mean, he was a criminal for goodness sake.
"Pl-please don't hurt me," I whispered, terrified.
"I don't think I can let you go, Alison," said Harry with a laugh. "You saw us killing that man and you know my name as well."
"I said I won't tell anyone!" I cried out. "I won't, I won't!"
A silence descended over the four of us. My nervous eyes trailed up to Harry's face which looked thoughtful. He then looked at me before stepping closer.
"Promise me," Harry said, grabbing my chin. "Promise me you won't tell anyone. Look at me in the eyes and tell me."
I gazed into his electrifying green eyes, which stared right back into my brown ones.
I didn't have a choice.
"I-I promise," I stammered.
A satisfied smirk came over his face. "Good girl," he said, caressing my cheek. "Let her go, guys."
My captors released my arms and then pushed me forward roughly. I nearly stumbled but Harry caught me. I moved out from his hold immediately.
"You might want this back," Harry said holding out my book.
I took it back and tried to walk past him but he blocked my way and grabbed my arms.
"Listen to me," he said in a low voice. "If you ever break your promise, I'll be after you. And next time, I won't let you go. My men will be watching you. Do you understand?"
I nodded slowly, biting my lip. I would do anything just to escape from the threatening, yet alluring presence of this beautiful criminal.
Harry smirked before his lips travelled to my ear. "You're so innocent," he whispered hotly, his deep voice making my muscles clench. "I like that a lot."
I reached up, shoved him away from me and began to walk away.
"You really want to leave your cellphone behind, love?" asked one of Harry's friends.
I turned back but before I could take it, Harry had it in his hand and I didn't dare to grab it from him. I stood there silently, avoiding his friends' eyes on me as he typed in something. A beep sounded seconds later from his jeans pocket and I realized that he now had my number.
What the hell?
"Here you go, Angel," said Harry sweetly. "Get home safely. You never know what sort of criminals will be lurking around."
Oh, the irony.
I snatched my phone and quickly ran away from him, his piercing gaze, out of those alleys before another criminal could catch me.
Harry's POV
I watched the girl run away from the three of us. As she vanished from our sight, Liam spoke up.
"You shouldn't have let her go, Haz. What if she tells-,"
"She won't," I interrupted firmly. We'd scared her enough. And she wouldn't want to be trapped in my clutches again.
Her name kept repeating in my mind, like a mantra. Alison, Alison, Alison...
She fascinated me. Her entirety screamed out innocence. And I wanted to change that.
I wanted her.
However, my thoughts were interrupted by Louis and Niall showing up, panting heavily and covered with trash.
"We hid the body in the dumpster," said Niall.
"What?!" I was surprised. "Why the fuck would you do that? The people who clear out those dumpsters-,"
"Will drop the body in a far place, or even burn it," Louis finished triumphantly.
I looked at him doubtfully and then shrugged. I really didn't care where that body was, as long as nobody found out the murderer.
"Did you catch that girl?" asked Niall.
"Harry let her go," scoffed Zayn. Louis's and Niall's eyes widened.
"Why did you do that?" asked Louis amazed.
I looked at my friends scornfully without answering. They just wouldn't get my reasons.
"Will you tell us?" said Niall impatiently. "Why did you let her go?"
I took a deep breath and clenched my fists.
"Because I want a reason to catch her again."
