Dedicated to graciewacie1802 coz she's so sweet :')
"Sooo, how long have you known this Harry guy anyway?" asked Jenny curiously.
I chose to ignore her question, instead focusing on arranging the needles and the medicine bottles in neat rows. Jenny had avoided talking to me about Harry for the rest of the day at the clinic but now she was pestering me.
"Seriously, Jenny, I don't want to talk about it," I snapped. "But all that you need to know is that he's not my boyfriend."
"You guys were having sex when I walked in," she said with a shudder.
"No, we weren't!" I said angrily. Jenny seemed surprised at my outburst and an awkward silence filled the room.
My mind went back to him, his strong hands holding me, soft lips against my own and his sexy, deep voice. I'd never met anyone like him, I'd only known him for a day and already my thoughts were consumed only with him
What did he feel for me? Was it just lust? Or did he want something else? Was he some kind of manwhore or something who used innocent girls as toys? I had no idea.
And I didn't want to know what I felt for him either.
"Ali," said Jenny, snapping her fingers in front of my face. "If you don't want to tell me, it's okay, I won't force you. But if Harry's really not your boyfriend, I have someone for you to meet." She grinned at that and I groaned. Every time Jenny set me up on a blind date, it ended up in a disaster. Though I tried explaining that to her, she never gave up, insisting that my 'perfect man' was out there.
"No way," I said firmly. "The last guy you forced me to meet threw an apple at me because he was scared of doctors."
Jenny burst out laughing. "Oh my gosh, I didn't know he was such a doofus, sorry babe. But this time, I have someone absolutely perfect and-,"
"Look," I interrupted. "I'm tired, okay? I just want to go home. Maybe another time, I'll go on a blind date." I patted her shoulder and she pouted.
"You should feel honored that your best friend is helping you find a guy."
"Oh, I appreciate it," I lied easily. "But really, I have to go."
"Fine," said Jenny with a sigh. "See you tomorrow, sweetcheeks."
I couldn't help laughing. "Good night, babydoll."
__________"Thank goodness you're home early today!" Tori exclaimed as I stepped foot into our apartment.
"What happened?" I questioned. "And where's Ava?"
"She's with Fliss and Bex next door," explained Tori. Fliss was our neighbor, she was a single mother, with her six year old daughter, Bex and she was the one who took care of Ava till Tori and I came home. If it wasn't for them, I'd probably have to hire a babysitter and pay extra money. I was very fond of the two of them.
"Why is she with them?" I asked her and Tori clicked her tongue impatiently.
"We're going clubbing," she said with a wide smile and I groaned in annoyance.
"Tori, you know I don't do clubs."
"Come on, Ali!" She whined, clutching my hands dramatically. "You need to live a little! And besides, there are always hot guys in clubs." She winked and I rolled my eyes.
What was with my friends and boys?
"No, I don't even drink that much," I said firmly.
That was a lie. I did drink, sometimes a little too much, just not in Tori's presence.
My roommate stomped her foot, clearly annoyed. "You, my girl, are coming with me, to one of London's biggest and hottest clubs, and no, you're not coming with that outfit. I've already picked out your dress," she said in a single breath. She grabbed my arm and pushed me into her room.
"Get your perky little ass in here and get dressed before I have to dress you myself."
"But Tori-,"
"GO!"
_________I tugged at the hem of my pink dress, trying to make it hide my knees. I wasn't very comfortable with wearing short dresses. But adamant Tori wouldn't listen.
And now she was dancing with some random guy she met ten minutes ago.
Gee, thanks Tori.
I leaned back against the counter, watching the scene in front of me.
It was what you'd expect in a typical night club. Lights flashing on the floor, sensual music and a mass of people grinding on each other. It was quite a sight. I hadn't consumed any alcohol yet my head started pounding from the loud music.
I felt a sudden tap on my shoulder and looked back to see the bartender holding out a drink.
"For you, love," he said politely.
"Thanks, but I didn't order one," I said.
"I know," said the bartender. "Compliments of that young man over there."
I craned my neck to see whom he was referring to and my eyes landed on a very attractive male, with blonde hair and a blue button up shirt. He was staring at me too and his lips pulled up in a smile when I took a sip of the drink. The bitter taste burned my throat but I tried not to show it.
He got off his stool and made his way towards me and I hoped that I looked good enough for him. I didn't bother pulling my dress over my knees, instead I casually crossed my legs, making it ruck up a little higher.
Woah, calm your whore-mones, Alison.
"Hey beautiful," he said, cheekily eying my legs and I felt rather flattered, I wasn't the type of girl whom guys went running after.
"Hi there," I said with a smile. "Thanks for the drink."
"It's worth it," he said with a wink and I already found him interesting. He sat down next to me and beckoned to the bartender to get him another drink.
"I'm Jamie," he said charmingly, holding out his hand.
"Alison." I reached out to shake his hand, but instead he took it to his lips and kissed it. Grinning at me, he held my hand in his and I let him play with my fingers. I mentally thanked Tori for forcing me to put nailpolish and some accessories; my hands looked longer and prettier.
"I feel like you aren't a fan of clubs," said Jamie. "I mean, you weren't drinking and you aren't dancing."
"I'm drinking now, aren't I?" I held the drink up, before taking a long sip. Once I got used to the alcohol, it tasted quite good. My system was getting numb; I felt relaxation taking over me.
I needed more of this stuff.
"I'll buy you another one," offered Jamie, it was like he read my mind. I nodded, probably a bit too eagerly because he chuckled deeply. Two bright drinks were placed in front of us and I took the blue one, my gaze lingering on Jamie's long fingers.
Boy, men's hands were fascinating.
"So, Alison," began Jamie. "Where do you work?"
"Is that usually the first question you ask when trying to flirt?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm not very good at this whole flirting thing," said Jamie with a shrug. "So as I was saying, what do you do for a living?"
"I'm a nurse," I responded and he looked impressed.
"I'm definitely going to get sick more often now," he said with a wink. "See, I made an attempt to flirt with you!"
I pretended to swoon but I started laughing. Jamie pouted and that was the cutest thing I'd ever seen in my life.
"You're adorable," I laughed, pinching his cheek and even in the dim lights of the club, I could see the faint hint of pink on his cheeks.
Oh my god, a boy blushing is such a turn on.
"Stop it," he whined. "Where were we, anyway?"
"You said you'd be getting sick more often," I said, taking a sip of my drink. "Where do you work?"
"I'm an architect," responded Jamie proudly. "This club, we helped design it."
"Now I'm impressed."
"I've been told that girls like architects," said Jamie casually.
"No they don't," I scoffed. "We just like anyone who wears a suit."
"Why is that?"
"It's just sexy." I shrugged and added, "Besides, don't you men like it when girls wear all those office skirts?"
Jamie nodded. "Point. But I'll never get to see that on you since you have to wear those awful white outfits."
I had to admit, I was a little offended by that. I couldn't help my work outfit.
You look very beautiful in this outfit, Alison.
Dammit, why did everything remind me of him?
Okay, stop thinking about that creepy criminal, my subconscious scolded me. You're with a really hot guy right now so keep your focus on him.
I gazed at the various people dancing on the floor and turned my attention back to Jamie.
"Do you dance?" I asked him casually
"I dance like a penguin," said Jamie with an apologetic laugh. "I'd make a fool out of myself on the dance floor."
"Good, because I wasn't planning on dancing any time soon."
"That's a relief."
"I'm not even big on clubs," I stated. "I prefer reading a book or taking a walk or something."
"That makes two of us."
A silence descended over us. I looked into his pretty brown eyes, so soft and deep. I'd just met him, yet I felt like I'd known him for a long time. I didn't know if it was the alcohol or just the fact that I wanted something, someone to distract me from my current predicament with Harry but I found myself wishing that something more happened between the two of us. I hoped that my hair hid my neck, I didn't want him to see the purplish bruise that Harry had so rudely inflicted on my skin.
You belong to me now.
No, I don't, fuck off. Jamie's better.
I won't hesitate to take you over my knee and spank you.
Jesus Christ.
"Penny for your thoughts?" asked Jamie, placing his warm hand on my knee.
"They're not worth it," I responded simply. I couldn't tell him I was thinking about a man who frightened the crap out of me but also made me feel sexually frustrated. Jamie was sweet while Harry was aggressive. He wouldn't think twice about hurting anyone while Jamie probably wouldn't hurt a fly.
My mental comparison between the two men was interrupted by Jamie's voice. "What's your favorite sport?" he asked.
"I'm not big on sports."
"That would explain your tininess," laughed Jamie.
"I am not tiny!" I exclaimed. "You're just too tall!"
"No, I'm pretty sure you're tiny for your age."
He was right, I was a little short for my age. But he didn't have to joke about it.
Jamie must have seen my cross expression because he said teasingly, "Don't worry about it, I like short girls. Every tall guy wants a short girl."
"Of course they do, we are irresistible," I laughed and flipped my hair back. Jamie laughed along with me and the sound of our laughter together was beautiful and soothing.
"This club is getting boring now," said Jamie, taking my hand. "Do you want to go somewhere else?"
"I'm not having a one night stand with you," I said quickly.
Jamie's eyes widened. "That wasn't what I was talking about, Alison," he said with a quiet laugh. "I meant we could go grab some ice cream and just walk around the city, admiring the lights."
"I don't think I can ditch my friend."
"Not even for one night?" asked Jamie with a frown. I scanned the mass of dancing bodies to spot Tori and her partner but they had completely vanished.
Maybe I could ditch her for one night. She'd done it too many times to me.
I smiled at Jamie, lacing our fingers together. "You know what?" I said sweetly. "Let's go get that ice cream and then take a walk."__________________________________________
