Counting Till the Clock Strikes the End (o7)

I must admit, I was scared and confused out of my mind. Why couldn’t my human life be simple and easy like everybody else’s? This is so not fair.

Moments past, there was no sound coming from upstairs, only heavy breathing. I slowly crept upstairs; my palms were soaked with nervous sweat.

I peeked through the door that leads to the living room, where Hayden was staring at Tucker, who was breathing heavily.

Hayden turned his attention to me when he noticed me come up; he motioned me to go upstairs. Okay, normally, I wouldn’t follow his orders, but seeing a situation like this, I silently obeyed. I hurriedly climbed up the stairs and into Tucker’s room.

Should I close the door? It would be awkward if I didn’t since Hayden could walk by and just look in. But if I did, they’d think I was doing something bad in here. Hmm.

I left the door half opened, and half closed.

I sat on the bed then walked around in my room, counting each second that went by.

I peeked out the curtains, my eyes searching for Jude. I only wanted a glance, to possibly gain some of my memory back. But he was nowhere in sight. I was about the close the curtain when I heard a grunt. I froze, then masculine fingers entered my vision. Then a head popped up.

Sparkling blue eyes met mine and I gave a yelp. He shook his head furiously while he held onto the bricks. Good thing the window was closed and locked. His eyes pleaded with mine to be quiet. I stepped back.

He motioned for me to open the window, but I just stood there.

I was too afraid to do anything. They were Hunters. I shouldn’t trust any of them.

But he was in my past. Would he hurt me?

Tucker didn’t. And neither did Hayden, well at least not yet.

“I’m not here to hurt you, please open the window, Ebony,” his voice tickled my brain. I scratched my head, but the itch was inside, not outside.

“Please, I swear, just open the window; I’m going to fall any second!”

I hesitated, if he fell, that’d be a good and bad thing. Good thing that is there’s one less Hunter in the world, but the bad is that I might know him from my human life and if he fell and died or got injured, I would regret it deeply if I ever remembered anything in my human life.

I stand and flex my fingers, and I look up into his blue eyes.

“Where are we going?” I groaned. I was extremely tired and I could barely stand.

“We’ll be there in a second,” Jude gave me a smile. He reached for my hand and pulled me along. I stared at our joined hands. I shouldn’t be holding his hand. Tucker would be extremely mad if he found out. But I couldn’t will myself to let go. Jude was probably being nice and didn’t want me to get lost. But the way he held my hand felt like it meant more to him than it did to me.

He turned to look at me again, and I smiled at him. His smile grew and he his whole face lit up and he gave my hand a squeeze. I quickly realized my mistake. By smiling at him, he took this as an encouragement. No. I was not about to cheat on Tucker with Jude. Jude was his brother! It was just disgusting!

I was about to tug my hand free from his when he turned around again and said, “We’re here!”

I looked around us; we were on a hill, near his house. I looked down, the view was amazing.
