During dinner, Hayden would cast quick glances at me while he thought I wasn't looking. Our eyes had met a couple of times and we'd quickly look away. I slowed down when I was almost finishing my dinner.
Tucker picks up his plate, gets up from the table to drop his plate into the sink. He sits back down beside me and leans back against his chair. I quickly start stuffing the food into my mouth. I finish and awkwardly get up to place it into the sink. I bit my lip, trying my best to swallow my embarrassment, knowing that they were looking at me. I slowly turned around and walked back and sat back down, avoiding their eyes. I lower my head and rub my hands together. Tucker's face suddenly appears in front of mine, and I back up quickly.
He grins, "Want to go upstairs?"
Back to his room?
I shrug, my heart thumped against my chest. Yeah, I have a heartbeat, cool aye? Vampire, heartbeat?
He gives me a funny look and raises his eyebrows at me.
"Is that a yes or a no?"
I shrug once again.
"I'll take that as a yes."
He pulls me onto my feet and led me up the stairs, leaving Hayden to finish dinner there by himself.
I turn my head around, meeting his eyes. He gives me a tight smile, before I had time to react Tucker pulls on my arm to hurry up.
He locks the door once we enter his room; we sit down on the bed.
"Are you cold?" he asks, gathering both my hands into his and rubs them together to warm them up. If you're wondering, yes, vampires get cold. We aren’t like Edward Cullen, with his cold icy skin.
I shrug, I was afraid to speak. Freaked out to speak. Embarrassed to speak. Just a while back, we were in this room, with me screaming at him.
Now, he was rubbing our hands together.
He chuckles, "Are you giving me the silent treatment or something?"
I shrug, for the fun of it.
He narrows his eyes playfully at me.
"Fine, then I'm also giving you the silent treatment, two can play that game!"
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. That line was said so many times on T.V, and books, it's probably a million years old.
We stay silent for a couple of moments before he falls back onto his bed and sighs.
I feel his hands move to my hips and pulls me down with him, "I was wrong, two can't play that game."
I stick out my tongue at him and winked. He jaw drops to the floor, "I can't believe you just did that! You don't speak but yet, you just, winked at me!"
I give him a questioning gaze.
My eyes flick towards the door for a second as I heard soft footsteps against the staircase. Hayden. He stops outside our door and gently pressed his ear against the door, listening.
"Want to see some pictures?" Tucker asked enthusiastically.
I clear my throat before saying, "Sure."
"She speaks!"
I laugh and follow him to sit on the ground where he reaches for one of many photo albums under his bed.
