The next day Andrew went back to Heather's house. Since she was never feeling well enough to go out. He knocked on the door. He was expecting Heather to answer the door instead he was standing face to face with her mom.
"Can I help you?" She rudely spoke.
"Is Heather here?"
"Andrew, did you know Heather's pregnant?" She said sarcastically.
He peeked in the house to see Heather sitting on the couch, eyes red and swollen from crying.
"May I come in?"
"I guess." She let him in. He walked into the living room and sat next to Heather.
"Are you ok babe?"
"I'm fine.."
Her mom came in with her arms crossed, she didn't seem upset or mad.
"How did you find out?" He asked.
"The morning sickness was a hint but the used pregnancy test in the bathroom gave it away."
"Look I can explain."
"I don't want no crybaby bullshit story, I don't care if she has sex as long as she has protection."
"Oh.."
"You had protection right?"
"Of course, condoms."
She stared at him and said "can I talk to you alone?"
"Yes ma'am"
They walked into the kitchen and Heather went to clean herself up.
"It's been six months and she's already pregnant Andrew?"
"Look I love your daughter and we didn't mean for this to happen. But you should know that I'm gonna be by her side through it all. This is my kid too."
"Are you ready for this baby?"
"I'll do anything for my kid. I'm ready, scared but ready for the responsibility."
"You've gained my respect"
"How?"
"Teen dad's tend to run off when they hear their girlfriend's pregnant."
"I'm not like them."
"Prove it. I have to go to work, take care of her."
"Of course."
She walked out of the house.
Andrew went upstairs to find Heather in bed.
"Babe?" She said as she heard the door open.
"Yeah baby?"
She turned around and looked at him.
"You didn't use a condom."
"What? Yes I did, I used one every time."
"No you didn't, not the night my mom was out of town."
He got quite. "I swear I did. I remember opening it."
"You opened the wrapper but never took out the condom. You were too drunk to know."
"Why didn't you stop me?"
"I was too drunk also. I found it when you left. I didn't want to tell you.." She started crying. He held her.
"Were gonna get through this baby."
They laid down together and discussed what they were going to do. Andrew said he's been looking for a second job. Heather's mom said she'd have to work with her until after the birth of the baby. They had it all planned out.
"Oh babe I have an ultrasound next week! My mom set it up."
"Really?"
"Yeah, are you gonna come?"
"Of course I am!"
He kissed her.
"What are you hoping it is?" She asked.
"A boy!"
"Another little Andrew, oh no!" She joked.
"Shut up! He'll be handsome."
"And if it's a girl?"
"She'll be beautiful, just like her mother."
"You're so cheesy!" She smiled.
"Anything to see that smile of yours!"
She began to blush.
Andrew got off the bed and knelt down on the floor.
"What are you doing?"
"Shhhh"
"Fine, whatever."
He smiled at her and got closer to her stomach.
"Hey little one. It's your dad. I don't know wether you're my son or daughter yet but either way I love you with all my heart. Don't ever forget it."
He kissed her stomach then got up and kissed her.
"You're gonna be a good dad." A single tear slid down her cheek. It wasn't a tear of sadness but instead it was happiness.
