The doctor had told Heather she could go back to school if she had wanted. Physical fitness was out of the question, meaning no more cheer.
She returned to school the following week. Worried about what others were going to say she wore baggy shirts to cover her baby bump. No one knew about the baby yet. Both Heather and Andrew agreed to keep it a secret a little longer.
For her first day back Andrew picked her up. He had borrowed his mom's car because he didn't want her walking and her mom couldn't take her. He drove up to her house and called her.
"Hey baby, I'm outside."
"Be right there!"
She walked outside and walked to the car. She threw her bag in the back seat and go in. He leaned to the right and kissed her.
"You ready?"
She took a deep breath.
"Yeah." She faintly smiled.
They got to school and walked in together. Everyone looked at Heather with confused expressions.
"Is she wearing a T-shirt?"
"I think so!"
"But she only wears crop tops!"
"Maybe she's pregnant!"
"Omg do you really think so?"
She turned her head to see a group of girls pointing and staring.
"Babe.."
"Yes my love?" He asked.
"You think this is a good idea?"
"It'll all work out baby."
"Promise?"
"I promise." He kissed her cheek. People continued to stare and point but they both ignored it.
The bell rang and Heather had to talk to the cheer coach. She was scared, her body was shaking. It was becoming hard for her to breathe. She was on the edge of having an anxiety attack. She walked into the coach's office.
"Hey coach, can I talk to you?" She said shyly.
"Of course, take a seat." The coach gestured to the chair in front of her desk. Heather sat down and crossed her arms over her chest.
"So what's on your mind Heather?" She smiled at her.
"I can't be on the team anymore.."
"What? Why not? You're one of our best flyers and your tumbling is outstanding!"
"I love cheer but something happened."
"What happened if you don't mind me asking?"
"Umm.."
"You can tell me Heather."
"I'm pregnant.."
"What?"
"It wasn't planned, it's just kinda happened."
"Well I know your love for cheer is stronger than anything so I have an idea."
"Yeah?" Heather looked up and raised her eyebrow.
"How about you become the team's manager?"
"Are you serious?" A smile appeared.
"Yeah! You'll still basically be part of the team and you'll be able to do everything with the team."
"Omg that's perfect! Thank you coach!"
"Anything to help, you know I'm here if you need anything. I look at the whole team as my children. I'll always look out for you guys."
"I appreciate it so much coach!" She hugged her and walked out of her office.
The bell rang and Heather headed to class.
