"Watch where you're going!" I grumble as, yet another, freshman blindly bumps into me. Gawd, freshman are soooo, like, annoying when it comes to the first week of school. Why cant they just stay on their side of the building, because, and I think every other senor would agree, they are a pain in the a-
"OMG SPENCER! Spencer, get over here, I need need need to fill you in on my amazing summer vaca. at the Bahamas!!" And that would be Abigail, fellow cheerleader and awesome best friend, who was just meeting me at our side by side lockers after a long, gruesome summer.
"Abby! I cannot believe you left me here and you even got a tan! What the fu- hhphm" And that was the sound of her clapping a hand over my mouth as a teacher walked by. Thank god she stopped me.
" Just saving your stupid reputation from getting ruined, cheer captain, not all of us wanna spend the week conditioning because of your perfectly perfect, foul mouthed self." She laughed before we close our lockers and walked towards the office for our new shedules. At our amazing Hopeful Souls High, we keep the lockers that we get our first year here, and turn them over at the end of senor year. This of course made things easier because we got to pick our lockers, meaning Abby and I always got them beside each other.
"Aww, seriously, I think you need the extra conditioning, all that tanning and you forgot to stay toned, and dont worry I'll keep a good head, come practice today." I mocked, then seeing the pissy way Mrs. MacMahan was looking at us, I quickly cut the crap and pasted on a fake smile, making my voice honey sweet.
"Mrs. MacMahan, I hope you have a good day. And may I say, I absolutely adore you new dress, its quite fitting for you." And with that I flashed her a grammy winning smile as she took the bait, obviously in a better mood. As we were walking out a hand suddenly snaked around my waist and dragged me towards the wall, away from anyone's notice. Before I could react I was greeted with a rough kiss and a too-tight hug, Matthew. I groaned inwardly at the thought of what he was trying to achieve, seriously, are you this naive, I am not this stupid you walking jawstrap.
"Ok seriously! Stop, Matthew, I have to go to class, and you graduated last year, so shouldn't you be looking for college or something?!" I could help the strain in my voice, he seriously needed to go.
"Come on Spence, you know I was planning on going to college with you, so yea im waiting till next year. And I wasnt gonna leave ya hanging, baby, cuz I heard that ya were a lil lonesome this summa'" Matthew drawled out in his thick, country accent. Gawd why does he have to have such a cute accent? It makes it harder for me to leave him. As I, uneffectively, tried to shove him off me, I noticed a set of deep green eyes staring at me, as if to ask me if I needed help. To make matters worse, I did, so I quickly, and discreetly, nodded, and suddenly was unburdened by Matthews body weight pressing me against the wall. As soon as I was free I pushed away from the wall and grabbed onto Matthews shirt.
"Listen here, Matthew, I dont want to kiss you or be near you, for that matter. Leave me alone, or I will make your life a living hell. Got it? Good now go away, before I have to drag you out of HSH, now go." I managed to spit out before losing my control and adrenaline all together. But, thankfully, my threat worked and he sulkily dragged himself out the front doors of HSH. Now to see who my hero is... but before I could even turn around, I felt an arm lightly brush against mine as my "hero" left.
"No, wait, come bac-" I try to follow him but Abby appears out of nowhere and half drags me into the bathroom.
"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!? Did you just turn Matthew Jones, all star player, and your boyfriend, down!?! What is wrong with you, Spencer, have you been losing interest, or," Abby's voice goes down to a whisper, "has he gotten abusive...?" She sounded as though she knew exactly why, but just wanted to make sure.
"No! He would never! Plus I have the authority, he just has the muscles, besides," I try to act casual even though I have been thinking it through the entire summer, "I am going to break up with him."
