The raven haired boy however is now curled up on Dan's lap. His face nuzzled into the crook of the punk's neck, his good arm wrapped protectively around his waist. For his sake, Dan silently hopes the boy is asleep, in hopes that maybe his restless mind will actually rest. Then again, Dan isn't stupid and knows Phil is most likely awake. The silence between them isn't a bad one though, more of a calming one really. "Dan, I have a question." Phil pipes up softly, grabbing Dan's attention, "Why do people do this to others?"

That question hits Dan. Hard. He attempts to find an answer, one that would suffice. He could tell him about his parents, the real reason they kicked him out, or what he did to earn money on the streets- that's a story for a different time. "People fear what they don't know. You don't fit in to what people say is normal. You're a guy who wears pink, flower crowns, and pastels. People don't like that because they don't understand, and if you hate those people it only gives them more for them to hate you for," He stops for a second and notices Phil's face, one of sadness before he continues.

"People have this idea of what's acceptable and what's not. You wear whatever the hell you want, go for it Phil, get a new flower crown, get a new pair of shoes, anything. Be who you are and don't let him fucking scare you into not being who you are." He finishes, his eyes filled with tears, remembering the rage of his parents and the streets.

Dan (POV change for more fluff lmao)

I look to see Phil, using the remote on the side of his bed, dimming the lights, so the only light is the one over the sink. "Do you wanna watch TV?" Phil suggests, waving the remote slightly. I nod slightly, and he turns on the TV to a Random show. The TV is really just a background considering I'm really focused on Phil, if I'm being honest.

He sets the remote down on the edge of the bed, and pulls the blanket up to his waist, sitting beside me. I sit up more, getting comfortable as Phil leans his head against my shoulder. Looking to the side, I can see his bandaged arm limp against his side, his soft heartbeat fluttering against me. It's funny really, how he became close to me, this all started over a stupid bet. I'm not even paying any attention to the TV by this point, it's highly pointless.

"Phil, are your parents going to come visit?" I ask, considering I've never seen them around. "I think they'll be here tomorrow, they had to schedule a flight back, they were in the USA." He mumbles, his voice heavy with sleep. Pulling my phone out of my pocket, the bright screen illuminating the room, I select the contact for my boss. I hear the ringing, and him pick up.

Hey Daniel, what's up

Hey, so there was a medical emergency with a close friend and I'm with him at the hospital, is it okay if I could just take this shift off, and make it up on Monday? I ask, silently hoping he will say yes.

Make it up on Monday, and tell your friend to feel better, I'll see you tomorrow Dan.

He hangs up. I really get the feeling he doesn't like me sometimes. Yea, he most likely really doesn't like me, and I can't blame him.

I look down again and see Phil, his eyelids dropping, as he is most likely exhausted. The door opens and a nurse comes bustling in, clipboard in hand, looks like she's on a mission. "Visiting hours are over." She mumbles lazily, while checking his vitals. "Please let him stay, I really don't want to be alone." Both me and the nurse have equally shocked expressions as we both heard Phil. She looks at us both with sympathy, and glances  at her clipboard, which I'm assuming is telling her why he's here. Her eyes travel back from him to me in quick glances. "He might as well be here, just don't be too loud." She sighs, continuing to take notes. "Any pain of any kind?" She questions, and he shakes his head. "Have a good night Phil." She shakes her head, whilst walking out the door, closing it behind her.

"On a scale of 1-10 how tired are you?" I ask jokingly, noticing his mumbling. "Can the scale go any higher? If..so that's it." He mutters, his voice slightly muffled by my hoodie. His lanky arm wraps around either side of me, to meet at my waist. His chest rising and falling slowly, and my head crashing. Why does it always come back to this, it just always does.

I'm that scary guy that gets in fights, but people are so amazed that I'm in AP classes, rumoring that I payed the principal or something. No I didn't. I got good grades and I'm actually intelligent. I'm the kind of guy that you wouldn't expect to be sitting here, with a small, bullied, pastel boy, curled up on my lap, his head buried into my collar bone. Most people would expect me to shove him off me, hell even I might have at some point. People would expect me to laugh at him, uncurl his hands from around my waist, make fun of him. I'm a scary guy, I've learned that, but I don't bully the innocent. Every person I've ever beaten up was the worst of the school, so really it was a public service.

Most people would also probably think I'm lying to Phil, trying to play his heart. I'll admit that bet was a horrible thing, but this has nothing to do with the bet. I'm actually in love.

Holy shit, I'm actually in love.

I look to my side, to see the fingers tighten it the fabric of my shirt. His knuckles turning white, the bones more prominent. Taking my free hand, I run my thumb against the top of his hand, and feel his fingers loosen. "I'm not gonna leave, I promise." I whisper, my voice hoarse. I'm met with the silence of the room, and the beeping of the monitors. I carefully adjust the pastel boy so he's beside me, and I lay down, moving his arm from around me. It doesn't take him long to find yet again, another comfortable position.

He buries his face yet again, into my collarbone, and his hand loosely grabs my shirt. I run my hand gently through his jet black hair, playing with it at some times. He sighs contently, and his breathing slows again, right after he mumbles something.

"Dan Howell, I'm in love with you too"
