Riker's P.O.V.:
When I woke up the next morning, the memory of yesterday played through my mind.
'God Riker, you idiot. Why didn't you just tell her? You wouldn't feel this way if you had.' I said to myself, but just shook it off.
'You've got to tell her eventually man, but how?'
I rolled out of bed, slid on my glasses, and headed downstairs.
When I reached the bottom of the steps, I looked to my right and saw Rocky and Madison asleep on the couch.
I turned away and breathed a heavy sigh at the sight.
'Breakfast, breakfast. what's for breakfast?' I sing as I shuffle through the cabinets.
"Uhm, fruity pebbles?" I hear in that sweet sounding voice I know, followed by a giggle and the clanking of bowls onto the table.
Oh Madison.
'You read my mind.' I smiled as I took the seat beside her at the bar.
"Eh, I just know my Riker." she snorted.
'Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where's Rocky?' I asked.
"Still asleep on the couch. You know how lazy he is." she smiled and rolled her eyes.
'Yeah, but you're lazy too, so why are you awake this early?' I laughed with a mouth full of cereal.
"I heard you in the kitchen, smart ass." she smiled.
"But anyways. Riker, we have to talk."
My heart fell with those words.
'What about?' I asked, trying to keep my cool.
"I'm really worried about you."
'And why's that?'
"Because, I mean, you won't tell me what's up, and you've been acting kind of weird lately. And you always tell me when something is wrong ... so spill it Riker."
At that moment, I froze.
Thoughts were racing through my mind.
What do I say? I can't just tell her. I can't.
How does one tell their best friend, aka brothers girlfriend, that they ... they... they like them?
I can't possibly do this. No way.
I've got so much going on, and then there's this.
I'm so stupid.
I don't like her. No. I love her. No, no. I can't.
"Riker? You okay?" She says, breaking my thought.
'Oh, yeah. Uhm, well...' I pause.
'Let's take this outside. I don't want to wake the others.' I say, as I take off to the patio.
I take a seat on the steps, and Madison takes the seat right beside me.
"Well?" she says.
'Well.. here goes.' I say, swallowing the lump in my throat.
'Madison, I-, I used to like you. Whenever I first laid eyes on you, I thought you were perfect. I couldn't possibly pick out a single flaw on you. I saw you at the airport... before you ran into Rocky... and sometimes, I still wish that it would have been me that ran into you that day. But I know you and Rocky are in love, and the happiness I have for you two is indescribable. I just had to tell you.'
