I haven't forgotten
Nor will I ever
Forget how you left me
To this world.I remember
You told me
How the stars
All die
And then we see them
Brighter than ever.
I remember
You told me
Of Atlas's struggles
Holding up
An entire world
On his weak shoulders.
I remember
You told me
Of Icarus's
First and final
Flight
As his father watched
Him perish.
But did I ever tell you
Of Echo's plight?
She loved him
As I love you
But he didn't see it
And she was cursed
Forever
Because of something
That never was.
I don't think you see
How I am cursed
Like Narcissus, your fate
May be worse
Living
And dying
In mirrored ignorance.
But at least for me
What we had
Was real
And more
Than a reflection
In a vain
Consuming
